A Brief Note On Television’s Greatest Gays

OMG, you guys! Kurt and Blaine are finally getting together on Glee. Brace yourselves for more overly cutesy musical numbers and a complete lack of romantic chemistry, because William Keck of TV Guide claims they’ll be making it official on the February 8th Valentine’s Day episode. This will allegedly involve a duet in front of a Gap store, set to the tune of Robin Thicke‘s “When I Get You Alone”. Understandably , we remain skeptical.

Of course, it won’t just be flowers and unicorns for TV’s gay couples on Valentine’s Day. Modern Family‘s Cam and Mitchell will confront some issues, when Mitchell becomes the lust object of his young law firm assistant. Oh, and did we mention that James Marsden is moving in as their upstairs neighbor? And there’s a scene with him shirtless in a hot tub? We have two words to describe our feelings about this… Fuck. Yes.

  1. What I am wondering is: Is this going to be one of those sanitized Hollywood depictions of a Gay relationship, or will it be more like the ones I see around me, where 2 guys set up house, sleep together and also play outside the house? One thing I have always felt (and always will) is that if you are in a relationship with someone, but still sleep with other people, you aren’t in a relationship, you’re just fucking your roommate.

  2. Sorry, but I just can’t get into sitcoms without laugh tracks. I don’t want to have to invest a half an hour of my time continually asking myself, “Oh, was that funny? Was I supposed to laugh at that?”

  3. @JeremyS: Better than being told when to laugh. If you are debating whether something was funny, you obviously weren’t paying close attention.

  4. Let go and laugh, and quit criticizing every little thing. I’d be amazed to find out that you have a sense of humor.

  5. remind me please why we gay men watch bad TV with stupid story lines and bad acting merely because there’s some gay twist to that aforesaid bad story?

  6. James Marsden is very sexy and hot. I’ve never watched ABC’s “Modern Family”, but it looks like a funny show. He has a nice cock too.

  7. @Leo; I agree. Too many gay men are portrayed as being sissies or feminine on television. A List New York on the LOGO channel was a good example. There a millions of masculine down low gay men that don’t act feminine, dress in women’s clothing, and wear make up.

  8. @Ocho67; do a google search by putting in James Marsden nude or naked. A site come up with actors nude photos.

  9. Thanks for the spoiler, jackass. Some of us like to be a little surprised by what we watch on television, not be caught off guard by reading an article with an obviously misleading title that spills the beans. If you’re going to do spoilers, at least give people a chance to know what they’re about to read.

  10. If you can’t tell the difference between a teaser and a spoiler, you clearly have no business watching TV or using the Web.

  11. I like sitcoms both with and without laugh tracks. Sometimes, I find myself saying ‘Why is the laugh track going so loud? That wasn’t funny”. At least with laugh-trackless sitcoms, YOU can laugh at what you think is funny, you’re not told by canned laughter what’s funny.

  12. And we don’t see them portrayed because they are, as you say yourself, “down low”. Maybe if they grew a pair and where more out in the open, the “expected” image might change.

  13. Clearly you are confusing “down-low” with “masculine gay male” I’m out, and date men, and will tell anyone who asks that i’m gay. Guys on the “down-low” are cowards, and I can usually spot them a mile away. As Timber said, grow a pair, sissy.

  14. well, i still want to know what they’re going to do with dave!

(if for no other reason than, i wanna see him kiss another dude, again.

and, maybe, knowing if he’ll confront his own sexuality {whatever that might be} and atone for his.. ..past.)
