Robert Talbot of Maine’s NAACP: Marriage Equality Testimony

Remember how we mentioned yesterday's Maine Senate Judiciary Committee public hearing? Well, Louise of Pam's House Blend has caught a particularly powerful moment from said hearing.

Robert Talbot of Maine's NAACP, who himself is married to a white woman, took the podium to state, "More than 40 years ago, even people here in Maine told us it was wrong to get married. People say the same thing now about gay and lesbian couples. It was wrong 40 years ago, and it's wrong now."

The crowd's response is spectacular, and his conviction and willingness to speak out has me a little teary-eyed. Please excuse me for a moment.

  1. Google Mildred Loving, whose lawsuit was the case in which the U.S. Supreme Court struck down anti-miscegenation laws, and her 2007 statement entitled “Loving for All”, same sort of thing, absolutely beautiful.
