Mark Leno Fights For Out-of-State Gay Marriage Recognition in California

Mark leno
Openly gay California Assemblyman Mark Leno has introduced legislation that would recognize the marriages of same-sex couples who were wed outside of the state or country after Proposition 8 was enacted on November 5, 2008. Now that's a loophole no one really thought of yet, eh?
"This is, in the strictest terms, merely codifying the Supreme Court decision," he said. "We don't interpret. We don't extrapolate. We don't extend. We just place in statute what the court said in the majority opinion." Let's hope this bill goes through, even though it sucks that there isn't anywhere within reasonable driving distance outside of California that has legalized gay marriage.

  1. Have you not heard of Canada? Canada legalized same-sex marriage nationwide a few years back. A quick trip up to BC wouldn’t be that hard!
