General Motors Pull Gay Ad Featuring MANHUNT Model

GM Gay ad, Josh Griffin

In an effort to appeal to the gay community, General Motors created an online video of two hunky guys (one of which is MANHUNT model Josh Griffin) washing a Camaro wearing nothing but yellow briefs. The video was promoting Chevrolet Gay Days at the Movies for the new Transformers movie.

As the ad got more popular on YouTube, GM decided to pull the video because they felt it was not a good representation of the brand. Dave Barthmus, a GM spokesman also said that the video wasn't mainstream and only made "sense for this particular audience".

Screw GM, I say. I don't see why they had to pull an ad that was only on YouTube. It's funny that the intentions of the video was to appeal to gay buyers, but now it's doing the complete opposite. Oh well, I prefer foreign cars anyways. What do you guys think?

  1. Just another reason that I would not buy a GM product. I can always spend my “gay” money some place else.

  2. I’m currently driving a Korean car (Kia), and am very satisfied with it. I prefer German cars, but can’t really afford the one I want.
Just out of curiosity, the ad was yanked before I got a chance to see it. Does anyone know of a link where it’s still active?

  3. American cars suck!!!! Go with Japanese, German, or Korean if you don’t want a piece of junk. Subaru puts out tons of gay focused advertising, and their vehicles are great. Don’t give our money to companies that make junk and support hate!

  4. I got screwed and not in a good way by my Saturn … that was the last GM car I will ever own. I bought foreign and if I ever buy American again, it will be a Ford and only if it is damn good.

  5. if they don’t want to feature us in their adverts, then that let’s me know they don’t want our gay dollars.
companies need to stop being afraid of the [religious right] and just feature minority groups in their adverts.
i saw a computer commercial the other day that featured a mixed-race couple with a biracial baby and i was honestly shocked. it’s normal to see mixed-race families out in [the real world], but companies just don’t seem to like featuring non-whites in their commercials.
Seems that most companies prefer to target their advertising to [pure/lily white] consumers..

  6. Even though I’m not into Asian men, Nissan, Honda, and Toyota make great cars….and people…a lot of their cars are manufactured in the United States, so you are technically buying what an American built.
If you look at Fords/GMs their quality does really suck…unless you just want an F150.
