Ryan of The Real World: Fan of Sarcasm & AIDS Jokes

I stopped watching The Real World when it stopped getting real and started to become a show about fame-whores who go to lame parties. While I had heard some chatter about this “Ryan” character being a totally homophobic jerk, it didn’t rank high on my list of things to care about.

And then I read the following tweet: “Hey haters- What is the first sign that you’re getting A.I.D.S… A hard pounding sensation in your ass.” I had mistakenly clicked through on the link, because I was under the impression that it was R&B singer Ryan Leslie. Obviously, this wasn’t the case.

Shortly after writing this “joke”, he followed up by saying, “The fact that my sarcasm has such a huge impact on your world is nothing but hilarious to me.” Hmm, is he talking about GLAAD or something? Because to me, he’s just another hateful bastard whose fifteen minutes of fame will be up before he knows it…

  1. the irony is this douchebag is hair stylist….One would think that someone involved in this industry would not be so ignorant…..I personally think he is a repressed closet case…..Admit it Ryan, you love the dick…..or being a dick is suffice for now until your twinky little bottom urges take over….

  2. I have been watching the show this season and I have been disappointed in Ryan and the black guy Preston. Ryan is homophobic, and Preston sleeps around. These are two images that don’t belong on television.

  3. I saw one episode and preston was in bed with ryan and ryan was playing with prestons ear and kinda cuddling eachother… So who knows where all ryans anger comes from but he def doesnt hide his gayness very well. Dont be layed up in bed with a gay guy if ur just going to bash him and the rest of the Gay community!

  4. you actions speak louder than your words–you say you don’t care; but then post at length about it.

Again, if he is correct, as you indicated, about his opinion having some stock, then why make a fuss?

The Real World is an outdated show, as you stated, then why make any pop culture refs.

You might just want to remove the post since we all can assume the idiocy of this guy–and don’t promote this type of trash.

I would have asked him, “What, straight couples don’t have anal? Talk about lame sex”

  5. I agree with both anoir & hngblk… I think ryan is repressed, I thought he was “the gay one” when I looked at him… I still do now. And preston is such a slut.

But I do think they belong on tv, these are the way people act/think. And, it’s mtv, what do you expect?

  6. ‘Real Life’ hasn’t been real in a long long time. It’s just a bunch of stereotype’d people thrown together. The gay guy, the sluts (male, female, both), the hard core feminist / dyke, the token black guy or two. Oh, and often a very handsome biracial guy who bangs a couple of the white girls. Who cares? The more you write about it, the more it seems relevant.

The real issue is that MTV and this show have lowered the basic standards of civility. Note what MTV has done to spring break… and let’s not even discuss Jersey Shore.

  7. I don’t know if you all read it, but these “reality shows” consist of situations the producers put these people in, and then they get edited and portrayed as what the show wants them to be seen as. And their (the people on the shows) reactions to the situations they are put in help the shows achieve this.

  8. Who really gives a Shit, he’s a small minded ,Skinny twink, with nothing really going for him.
He might mature into a man someday

  9. This is just ridiculous and sad. The fact that there is an individual like Ryan that is allowed to live without being afflicted by some kind of festering disease is unfair. On a personal note, I stopped watching Real World after New Orleans, when yeah, similarly I feel it became about selfish, no common sense kids and their hot tub. But this runs deeper now. MTV should be ashamed of themselves for allowing such shitty bastards on their programming in the name of “reality.” I sure hope you’re right about people getting what they deserve, Dewitt.

  10. I have HIV and I am so hurt by his joke…. LOL. Like what he has to say has any stock in how I feel about myself! In every other country but America, HIV is a Heterosexual disease! And, for the very first time in the USA, Heterosexual Diagnosis tied that of Homosexual Diagnosis. So, he doesn’t have a clue.
Again, who cares what he says? We do have freedom of speech here. And I would like to keep it that way. I can choose to let it hurt me or not. I choose not.
