Proposition 8 Update

MANHUNT Vote

Election day is finally here, and a Proposition 8 update is in order. Proposition 8 seeks to ban gay marriage in California after a May Supreme Court decision deemed it legal. If passed, this would mark the first time in American history same-sex couples have been given the right to marry, only to have it taken away by their fellow citizens.

The 'No on 8' campaign is making a final push to allow out-of-state residents to help, click here if you'd like to send e-mails to Californians urging them to vote against Proposition 8.

SurveyUSA confirms what we already knew, the race is a dead-heat. 47% of Californians are 'certain' to vote yes, while 50% say no, making turnout the wild-card that will decide this race.

The Advocate goes in depth with the 'No on 8' campaign, and The New York Times compares the Proposition 8 battle with Harvey Milk's battle against The Briggs Initiative in 1978.

We are at the final stretch, and within a few hours we will know the fate of Proposition 8, but for now, just get out and vote!
