I Had To Write About “Glee” Because This Amused Me

Glee is pulling out all the stops so you’ll start watching again. Wait – pause.

I was out having beers with friends on Friday night. The show came up in conversation and (seeing as I had a few) I rather bluntly stated how over it I was. You would have thought I called Zac Efron “fugly”. Wait, this was my circle. You would have though I called Chris Meloni “unattractive”. There was pearl-clutching and people expressing their disappointment in me like I had dropped out of med school or something! When did it become a betrayal of the gay community to think Glee is lame?

Resume. The upcoming episode (“Props”) features the cast switching roles, and playing each other. It’s actually kinda cute to see Darren Criss play Mark Saling as Puck, and Kurt and Finn switching roles. Chris Colfer and Corey Monteith are apparently close enough for Corey to mock Chris’ effeminate voice and get checked by him. Aw. It’s like me and my brothers except they’re sober and Chris isn’t threatening Corey with rape.

  1. “When did it become a betrayal of the gay community to think Glee is lame?”

Pretty much since the pilot episode, if not before.

  2. I’ll give you the first season…

but after that, it’s only a misdemeanor offense to find glee lame.

  3. It is extremely okay, and highly gay to think that gLee is lame.  The show was *designed* for “people like me” and it doesn’t pull it off.

  4. I still watch Glee for entertainment. That’s all it is. You don’t need to see yourself in EVERYTHING to enjoy it. Geez. It’s a teenage musical show. Ofcourse it’s over the top. So what if the plot continuity is off, it makes me laugh so I watch. When did everyone become a television critic?
