Dumbass Bigot School Official Apologizes, Resigns

A lot of us wore purple on Spirit Day to honor young gay people who had committed suicide as a result of bullying. Midland, Arkansas school board member Clint McCance found the concept of Spirit Day to be intolerable and encouraged gay people to commit suicide on his Facebook page, noting “I also enjoy the fact that they often give each other AIDS and die.” McCance wrote that he would disown his own children if they were gay. Clint McCance = totally appropriate role model for impressionable school children.

Anderson Cooper calmly ripped Clint McCance a new one last night on CNN. The dopey McCance dumbly apologized for his actions and confirmed that he was resigning from the school board. Thanks, Clint. Way to go.

  1. I can’t believe someone with that low mentality would serve in the school board. Democracy sometimes bites us in the ass.

  2. The thing that really offends me is that someone with such bad English was elected a school official. The good folk of this Arkansaw town coulda did better.

  3. He comes on here wanting people to forgive him. No one is going to forgive him for this. This guy might as well see if McDonald’s is hiring. Even they probably won’t give him a job. And it’s his ignorance and dumb speech that puts an unfair stereotype to all of us from the south.

  4. As much as I dont agree with what he said, I feel as though there was a missed point. While He obviously has problems with non-heterosexuals, I feel as though his original posting seemed as though it was angry because his employer was FORCING him to participate in this event. Does anyone else get that feeling when they read his comments?

  5. this, also, speaks for itself.

i am doubtful clint is going to make any real, immediate, changes to his core beliefs — at his age, they’re likely hard-entrenched; on the other hand, i am happy that he did ‘face the music,’ as it were.

if he learns nothing else from all this, he should come to understand that his Homophobia isn’t cute, and isn’t going to be as widely-tolerated/-accepted as he might have originally presumed.

i took note of the way he’d answered most of anderson’s questions — that, for me, provided the real truth.

on another note, if more ‘heterosexual-identified’ christians publicly condemned such ignorance and hate, then i might begin to respect that religion.

    maybe.

    (i’m agnostic for a reason, by-the-by.)

  6. Dee, you are 100% right. This man is not sorry for the things he said. He is only sorry that he was caught and has ruined his life and that of his family. He is hoping to minimize the damage. DO NOT PITY THIS MAN. He is not a man of GOD. He is the son of the DEVIL. Shame on him.

  7. One more comment. Asher’s parents broke my heart. This school board bastard has opened up their fragile and painful wounds with his comments. I am so sad right now. But I must say jerks like McCance is opening the eyes of America. Even with the recent loss of bullied children we have gained so much. Bless them all and let’s hope ignorant America grows and learns from it.

  8. It’s a good thing he was called out on this and faced the consequences of his actions

unfortunately, as mentioned above he probably hasn’t seen the errors in his ways and if anything, the fact that he’s ruined his career as result of homosexual slur will probably only make him resent gay people even more (if he didn’t have a reason before, he has one now)

  10. This guy made me feel very uncomfortable, he looks like a deer caught in the headlights or a kid with his hand in the candy jar. Because he was confronted he is apologetic, however I am sure his views have not changed.

Ten to one he is a member of the local KKK chapter in his neighborhood if you read their requirements for membership being GAY is an issue.

Feel sorry for all the crap going on in the US right now. Makes me glad that I live in Canada. Where I am married and know that hate crimes is recognized on a federal level.

  11. I’m confused, Clint McCance was crying crocodile tears obviously, but he kept saying he used the wrong words to convey his thoughts. I’m wondering why Anderson didn’t ask him “Mr. McCance what were you actually trying to say? Putting aside the obviously stupid and idiotic manner you conveyed your thoughts, what were you actually trying to say?” He apologized for using all the hate speech but he never really addressed the issue of what his initial message was that he “used the wrong language” for.

He said he was sorry for the hurtful things he said but that’s only because it was on such an obviously moronic level of hate speech. I’m sure if he was asked that question he would have no escape because he really did mean those things, he would’ve just said it in a more politically correct manner and that’s the most comedic part about this, that everyone ignored the elephant in the room with such gusto and fury that it was a comedic tragedy.

  12. Hei,

Im clint n I juss wanna tell y’all dat u can find me on manhunt. Imma bottom if it madders. this was all a Covur so my wife Din gon dun suspec My homoseckual tendenci3s.

    clint MccancE

  13. Watching this video and hearing him apologize just seems as if he’s just trying to look good, for all the people just to forgive him. HIs comments were so uncalled for, he doesn’t know how it feels to lose to someone to suicide and especially if they were gay and bullied. His views are so narrow minded and disrespectful. He’s a complete fool and makes Americans look bad. And he wasn’t being forced to wear purple it was voluntary and to show respect to the teens who have commited suicide.

  14. SoCal_90, I have to take exception to part of your statement. “Especially if they were gay and bullied.” No matter the reason for suicide, the hurt is all the same for those left behind. What about straight kids who are bullied for not fitting in and driven to suicide? Being gay does not make the injustice worse. It’s ALL wrong and it ALL hurts, no matter the reason.

  15. My Opinion they say opinions R like assholes everybody has one Well My Opinion N My Opinion if more opinions where like yours ( & so many others that have posted on this subject ) there would be a few less ASSHOLES N this world !!! BTW ToddM I do not think that SoCal_90 was implying that all suicide do not hurt I think who merely putting the emphasis on gay suicide because of all the recent bullying that has led 2 a raft of young teenagers committing suicide to escape the bullying 4 I know all 2 well the pain of being teased ( never about being gay ) 4 I 2 struggle ( 2 this day ) with that very pain that these young wonderful kids could not overcome > So ToddM U R 100$ correct SUICIDE HURTS !!!

  16. My post should have read he was merely putting the emphasis on gay suicide . I also meant 2 say 100 %

  17. And another thing that really gets under my skin is when Anderson asked him if he really would disown his kids if they came out as being gay. The guy said that he doesn’t know what the future holds, that he doesn’t know how he’d respond. If he was truly apolegtic (which i know he isn’t) he would’ve simply said “No.” This guy has his view on homosexuality and it’s not going to change. He’s just sorry that he’s catching the backlash of his dumb ass comment.

  18. I realize you catch more flies with honey and that coming at McCance like the Invasion at Normandy probably would have gotten pretty ugly pretty quickly BUT I was soooooo wanting Anderson Cooper to ask him “Which is the Real Clint McCance? The one who wrote those words or the one here now?” and “How much of your apology has to do with the threats against you and your family?”
Probably wouldn’t have changed the face of the interview, but I wanted more accountability.

  19. No he’s not sorry at all. He’s sorry he got caught. I’m not a horrible person. That’s not me at all? Who was it then? I used the wrong language. So what he means is he still harbors those feelings, but he would choose his words differently. What a douche.

  20. If you watch the body language when he is asked what he would really do If one of his kids was gay, the fear the hesitation and the eventual answer makes me wonder if this whole thing wasn’t a warning to one of his own children? Just a thought. (Pray for the kids Guys)

  21. Good story but a little too long, was eating away at my download. I love purple and Anderson Cooper is hot!
