Manchester United and Portugal sensation Cristiano Ronaldo was named World Footballer of the Year, topping 54 other elite
players.
Because Ronaldo scored 42 goals this season, it was not a big surprise he received this award, a truly global distinction because it is voted on by competitors from all over the world.
"To be recognized by my fellow players is amazing," said the 23-year-old.
"I would like to thank my teammates and coaches and everyone involved at United and the national team, as well as my family and friends for their support."
