Will Modern Family Have A Gay Wedding?

After fans reacted negatively to the lack of a kiss between Modern Family couple Cam and Mitchell, the show’s creators insisted that the issue would be addressed in a later episode. Apparently, Mitchell isn’t too keen on public displays of affection, which would explain why the characters didn’t lock lips during the “Airport 2010” episode that aired last May.

However, some folks aren’t buying into this excuse. Ryan Murphy of Glee has allegedly thrown some shade to the show’s producers. He said: “I hate it on TV shows, and there’s one show that I won’t name right now, where it’s like ‘Why aren’t these character kissing? Don’t they have a child?’ That’s ridiculous to me. I don’t understand it.”

So how will Murphy and other followers of the show react when they hear that Cam and Mitchell might be tying the knot? While no date has been set, actor Eric Stonestreet recently revealed that there’s “no doubt” as yo whether it will happen. As to whether they’ll kiss at the altar? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out!

  1. Mitchell: Just turn it off.
Cam: I can’t turn it off. It’s who I am.
    Mitchell: The music!
    Cam: Oh yes, the music!

Haha… why am i not watching this show?

  2. They mirror my partner and I as well. I think the kissing thing is very valid and I think the creators are smart in taking the approach they have.

As for Ryan Murphy….What has he done, exactly, for the gay community. The big event on Glee this year was a homophobic rant that was countered by the father. reports are that Murphy will not explore the lesbian overtones of the two cheerleaders (brittany and whats her name). So I say Murphy needs to concentrate on fully fleshing out his own gay characters before he questions the creative direction of another show. Now if they have a wedding with no kiss AND Murphy actually does some gay romantic scenes in Glee, then maybe he can talk.

  3. Murphy really shouldn’t comment, especially when his show is all spectacle and very little substance. Glee is not even close to being in the same realm as Modern Family, which is clever, hilarious, genuine, and wonderfully acted. Cannot same the same for the show that destroys classic songs.

  4. It mirrors ME! It doesn’t “mirror I”!! “The show mirrors my partner and me,” dammit.
Also, the gingery dude is super cute in my eyes, and the other one is a revolting beast, so I don’t even buy them as a couple. I certainly feel no need to see those actors kiss.

  5. I agree with Mark, Murphy really shouldn’t comment. The characters in Modern Family are much better (and funnier) than Glee. And I don’t think I ever saw I gay kiss in Glee so I don’t even know what he is talking about. Gotta disagree with you about the songs though, Mark. Those kids are definitely talented. Not great actors, but talented singers.

  6. I have to agree with Mark on the singing part of Glee, coming from a professional musician’s stance. Those kids trash the songs.
Couldn’t care less about Modern Family.

  7. As the name suggests, modern family is a family show. Have you seen the straight couples on the show kiss on the lips? Here in Australia we are only seeing the first season, but I dont remember seeing any kissing going on.
That said, would like to see more gay kissing on tv.
