Weekly Top Ten: Dance! It’s All You Wanna Do…

We know you’re still recovering from our list of Manhunt Daily‘s top ten ridiculous grudges, but now we’ve got a countdown that you can actually vote on! Yup, it’s our Weekly Top Ten. We’re still on a quest to discover which of these songs is the official “Song of Summer“, so get your votes in before it’s too late!

Last week, none of the new entries managed to break into the top five. Prepare yourself to wave goodbye to Taio Cruz, Maroon 5, Selena Gomez and Marina & The Diamonds, as four new additions try to steal the spot they couldn’t acquire.

Our Wild Card round mostly turned into a Who Would You Rather between Brad Paisley and Chris Salvatore, but it turns out that neither of them managed to make it onto the charts. Professor Green suffered a similar fate, as his collaboration with Lily Allen fell flat on its face.

So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, help me check my balls while I explain the rules to you. Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Kylie Minogue – All The Lovers (LW – 1, W8): Last week, this Australian dance diva reclaimed the number one spot by a very small margin, and she’s done it again with only ten votes more than her greatest competition. Keep voting to keep her where she belongs!
  2. Lady Gaga – Alejandro (LW – 2, W6): Where are all the self-proclaimed “monsters”? Were they too busy attending one of Gaga’s sold out shows to get their votes in? I guess she’ll just have to settle for being in second place… where she belongs. Yeah, I went there.
  3. Kelly Rowland – Commander (LW – 3, W11): When Kelly Rowland asks you to dance, you don’t ask questions. Ideally, you drop your ass to the ground and shake it all around. But I’m willing to accept proposals for other things you can do with your ass…
  4. La Roux – Bulletproof (LW – 6, W3): Can we call this a comeback yet? This electro duo hops to the number four spot, after making their return to the charts two weeks ago. The track may be over a year old, but it’s still got us grooving along.
  5. Adam Lambert – If I Had You (LW – 4, W4): This may be the longest that Adam Lambert has ever had a song on the charts. While most of his tracks tend to drop off shortly after their debut, you’ve made it a habit of keeping this one around.
  6. Scissor Sisters – Fire With Fire (LW – 5, W3): Thanks to a few dance mixes that have been making the rounds, we’re more inclined to call this a gay summer anthem. With some extra thump, this song is transformed into the perfect soundtrack for a hot and sweaty day at the beach.
  7. Katy Perry f/ Snoop Dogg – California Gurls (RETURN): You’re probably too busy recording a lip-synch music video to this song, so we’d forgive you if you didn’t have time to get your votes in. Billboard has already announced that this song is in the lead on their song of summer charts. Does that mean that it can steal the lead on our charts?
  8. Nicki Minaj – Your Love (DEBUT): Although it may not bang as hard as her competition, it’s hard to deny a song that samples Annie Lennox’s “No More I Love You’s”. We’ll find out soon enough whether you agree with me on that point…
  9. Brandon Flowers – Crossfire (DEBUT): Ninjas! Charlize Theron! And did we mention that it’s actually a really good song? We’re not holding our breath that this one will stick around for the long haul, though it’d be really nice to see it on the charts next week.
  10. N.E.R.D. F/ Nelly Furtado – Hot N Fun (WILD CARD): Considering that summer is both “hot” and “fun”, this track couldn’t have been released at a better time. Does it have what it takes to break into the top five? Or will it fade into obscurity before you know it?

  1. I’m glad I’m not the only person with a open bias in favor of Kylie Minogue and against Lady gaga…..I like Gaga…but she’s no Kylie….she’s the true queen of Electro Pop!

P.S- I looooooove Kelly Rowland’s “Commander” ….that’s the song that is in HEAVY rotation on my Ipod during workouts.

  2. After dancing to The Scissor Sisters’ “Fire with Fire” and the amazing Peter Rauhofer remix, I have to give them my vote along with the goddess Minogue and La Roux.

Please bring back ‘4th of July” by Kelis and for the Wild Card I’ll suggest “Pretty Mess” by Erika Jayne.

  3. If Nicki Minaj is going to be the next Lil’ Kim, why does her label keep saddling her with wack-ass songs? Her “feature” appearances on other artists’ songs and her verses on the Young Money tracks are better than her own songs. I guess it’s too much to hope for that there be a shake-up in the Top 5. At the very least maybe no more Adam Lambert and somebody else besides Scissor Sisters gets saved…

Also, a couple suggestions for next week’s chart or for the wild card… Kelly Rowland’s new track “Grown Ass Woman.” More of an R&B-flavor to it than “Commander” and the couple of other songs that have leaked-out. And, even though it’s been out for a few months now, “Hands Tied” by Toni Braxton. The BDSM crowd might dig it. 😉

  4. No wonder Kylie’s been winning, when the people who write these music blog posts always push people to vote against Lady Gaga. But that’s okay, I saw Gaga in her Madison Square Garden SOLD-OUT show this past week, and it was amazing. And then I saw her again on the Today Show, at which she had the largest turn-out in Today Show history. Hmm, who’s the reigning Queen of Pop, you ask???

  5. Second where she belongs? As if second is a terrible place to be. Honestly I don’t really like ‘Alejandro’ but I keep voting for it cause it’s GaGa. I also voted for La Roux and no one else. Yup there weren’t even three songs worth voting for to me.

  6. I picked La Roux, Kylie, and Brandon Flowers (hes crushable) but Id love to see anything from Florence + The Machine. Dog Days are Over =)

  7. LOVE the Brandon Flowers record. I downloaded it from iTunes and have been playing it over and over for days. The Scissor Sisters cuts “Skin Tight” and “Sex & Violence” are ten times better than “Fire With Fire.” Hopefully the remixes of “Fire” are better, ’cause there’s no kick drum in the album version.

  8. Thanks for bringing back Katy’s California Gurls! It really is a fun and awesome summer song 🙂

And I’m still loving Adam lambert and Kelly Rowland.

  9. Had to give it to the Mother Monster’s Alejandro, because that’s MY song of the summer. As on the fence as I am about Adam Lambert, If I Had You is actually a pretty fun song. And Scissor Sisters got my third one.

Can I suggest Shontelle’s No Gravity for this coming week? Great song, and she’s REALLY REALLY good live, which earned my respect. She was here in Minneapolis for pride this year and blew me away

  10. @Jason Minaj nor her label wanted that song released but after it was leak online and started receving alot of airplay they made a final mix and choose to release it. But hey i love it

  11. I always go with Kylie and La Roux. Suggestion for the Wild Card is “Missing You” by The Saturdays. This tune is great and although is a bit slow, the video has a summery vibe. Worth checking as it will become a Top 10 hit soon for them in the UK.

  12. I’d really love a different Kylie Minogue song on the charts. Better Than Today was my favorite off of her Album, and I don’t really like All the Lovers. So I voted for Gaga, La Roux, and Kelly Rowland.

  13. Ugh, Aphrodite is such an underwhelming album. None of the tracks really stood out for me. Where is the Kelly Clarkson love?

  14. @Landon I beg to differ!

Aphrodite has amazing records. Get Outta My Way has HIT written all over it and you can’t deny the fact that Cupid Boy, Closer, and Everything is Beautiful were made in gay heaven!

Kylie is the new thing 😉
