Pro Wrestling Gets a Dose of Gay

Pride Pro Wrestling

It's no secret that wrestling is kind of gay, yet professional wrestling organizations such as WWE (formerly WWF) have countered this homoeroticism with a heaping spoonful of homophobia. And my girl Mary Poppins could tell you–that crap does not help the medicine go down.

If you're not a big fan of the gay-baiting on pro-wrestling programs but enjoy certain aspects like men rolling around with one another and theatrical antics, maybe you should check out Pride Pro Wrestling. All of their wrestlers are openly gay individuals, and the organization looks to put a positive spin on homosexuality in wrestling.

I still think they may have a long way to go, but I like what they're doing! Additionally, it's great to see that men of all body types are represented within their roster, from the smooth muscular Wulfgar (pictured above) to the Woof Alert-worthy Eddie Valentine.

Let's hope that the founders eventually achieve their dreams of having their matches nationally broadcasted. Paging LOGO and here! TV… this could seriously be the next RuPaul's Drag Race or Dante's Cove.

  1. *eye roll*
Would it have killed them to kick up the production values on their photo shoots a bit?

  2. J- typical queeny response! Are YOU paying their bills? who knows if these guys are even making enough to afford proper advertisements yet? And I really do have to say that, other than Eddie Valentine, none of the guys pictured looks even remotely like a threat to any of the guys that appear on WWE- nor do they look any more realistic than most of those guys. I still say that the word “professional” should never be associated with the WWE, the WWF, or any of those other TV rollfests! They are mostly STILL just choreographed pratfalls, and they ask for too much money for attendance and get paid way more than they should, I am sure. Nice to watch all that bare\bear muscle and bulging trunks, though!

  3. they have a greenscreen… and they use it on these point and click camera shoot one offs? >.>
they’re forgetting their target audience is largely made up of gay men, and they’re basically gonna be eye candy for us for alot of the show… so can’t everything look good? >.>

  4. I agree with J. I could do a better job photographing them. The green screen looks tacky.

  5. Love these names, they all sound like porn stars.
And given the fact that are all rolling around, grunting, grabbing, holding and sweating all over each other, they may as well be.

  6. Ugh…more John Cena and less Nacho Libre.
Even Jetset Studios have standards for their wrestlers, AND their target audience. I’m with J on this one, poor production values….and with the exception of Jordan Winters, the guys could stand to shy away from craft services from time to time.

  7. Well, not everything is about muscle definition. Just becuase you may not see i doent mean it isnt there. Im not to sure i would watch this just cuz i dont really like wrestling.

  8. Production values come with time – as this is a new promotion, the production values were low – but they’re starting to get better – plus – these pics were taken from a shoot called “Studio Greenscreens” – self explanatory.
Thank you for the good input – as for the haters – production value costs money – if you’re that upset about it – buy a DVD from PPW and help it grow rather than bash a promotion that’s just gotten it’s feet wet.
