What comes to mind this Christmas Eve? World Peace, a sex party, aliens? If you were a member of the Raelian movement you would have all that on your mind, and you would be pissed that your massive orgy in Tel Aviv, Israel was canceled because of bomb threats and public outcry.
According to Kobi Drori, a representative of the cult, they'd been planning the orgy in hopes of "bringing world peace through mass orgasm, this
by experiencing consensual sex and natural, uninterrupted pleasure. It
was important to make love without feeling guilty or shy."
A claim of Raelism is that our warped world is more accepting of war than sensuality. Drori said, "Several years ago an Iraqi boy whose limbs
were amputated was shown on TV and everybody treated this as if it was
okay, but when Janet Jackson exposed her breast during the Superbowl
the American nation was appalled."
I'm not sure about the whole alien genesis story, but I agree that it's disturbing and absurd how violence is generally less offensive than sex.
