In Which Kanye West Makes A Total Ass Of Himself

Kanye West, Taylor Swift

Did anyone watch the MTV VMAs last night? I was too busy getting my dick sucked, so I missed out on all the crazy celebrity antics. On that note, I was expecting to hear a lot about Janet Jackson's tribute or Lady Gaga's wild performance this morning. Leave it to Kanye West to steal the headlines

So the story goes a little something like this… Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" quite deservingly won the award for Best Female Video. As she excitedly begins her speech, Kanye West jumps on stage to say, "Taylor, I'm really happy for you and I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos ['Single Ladies'] of all time."

Now here's the kicker–Beyoncé went on to win Video of the Year. As she came up on stage, she recalled how excited she was to win a VMA when she was seventeen and a member of Destiny's Child. Rather than bask in the spotlight, she stepped out in an attempt to correct Kanye's wrongs. "I'd like for Taylor to come out and have her moment, what about you?" And the crowd went wild!

In his standard caps-lock blog form, Mr. West has issued an apology to Swift, her mother and his fans. Even so, he refused to back down on his statement that "Single Ladies" deserved to take the award. Is this the last straw for his diva behavior? Or will the public forget about it by the time his next album drops?

  1. It looks like Kanye still doesn’t get fishsticks.
Yes, the man is an arrogant a-hole, but he makes excellent music. As long as he continues to create solid hip-hop, I’ll still buy his records; I support the music, not the attitude.

  2. What a baby he is. He makes Joe Wilson and Serena Williams look respectful.
But was it the most memorable moment of the evening?

  3. He was wrong and should be ashamed of himself. If someone had done to him what he did to her, he woulda flipped out and made a scene and all kinds of shit.
DeWitt we really (don’t believe you and) don’t need to know why you missed the show. You were probably actually watching True Blood…

  4. That man is GARBAGE@@@@@@@@@@@@ he comes from trash, and, if we all just forget abut him, he will retrun to the trash he came form. He has no talent that can’t be replaced.

  5. You know that saying, it takes a village to raise a child? Apparently, Kanye’s village has failed him. There does not appear to be anyone who can get through to him, to make him understand that he needs to curb his obnoxious behavior.

  6. Although I have to admit his music would seem to be right up my alley, I have never bought nor even illegally downloaded his music out of pure annoyance of his attitude. I feel childish for holding such a grudge, but stuff like this makes it hard for me to appreciate his work in any way.

  7. Throughout Britneys’ insane crazy where she did the weirdest shit, I still bought her music because it was awesome (even though she was batshit crazy). When Michael Jackson got went through all that pedohphile stuff or hung his child over a balcony people still supported his music.
Odds are pretty good that kanye was either piss drunk or on something to make him do that. Yes it was stupid and a bit cruel, but if he pumps out good music, then I’ll buy his music. Sorry. He’s a douche but he’s better than other ‘gang member’ rappers who fuck shit up in way worse ways.

  8. Kanye is an asshole, pure and simple. It’s bad enough that he freaked last year over his own music, but to do that to Taylor Swift was uncalled for and uncool in every way. Even Beyoncé was mortified by his behavior.
Accolades to both Swift and Beyoncé. Swift for maintaining her composure while Kanye made an ass of himself, and Beyoncé for showing such class by insisting that Taylor get her proper place in the spotlight.
I hope they never let Kanye or his music on MTV ever again.
