Spoiler alert! We’re about to tell you who won this season of American Idol. Of course, if you’re looking at the picture above, it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out the answer. Yup, Lee DeWyze has been crowned as the latest winner of the singing competition, beating out Crystal Bowersox by approximately two percent of the votes.
We’re curious to know–do you think Lee deserved to win? And since Crystal will inevitably get a record deal as well, which of the two do you think will be more successful in the long run? These are only a few of the questions we have, but feel free to share any other thoughts you have on the finale!

Seriously? If anyone thinks that Lee won because he has more talent they are nuts. He won because the 14 year old girls who vote thought he has cute. My mother thought he “was adorable.”
Crystal is far more talented and will have a much more succesful career. Night and day.
As always this will be up for debate, but I see this one as a no brainer. Popularity contest.

this is what drives me nuts about this show, it’s not about talent so much. I mean you have to have talent to get on the show, but votes are driven by all these young little teeny boppers. I like Lee he’s good yes, I’d probably listen to his music, but commme on! crystal! HELLO, was anyone watching the same show I was she’s outstanding and I love her and can’t wait for her album. I could say so much more, but I better stop there.
This season as a whole was pretty terrible to be honest, so I could care less who won, but Lee Dewyze is pretty damn cute! Got my vote!
Same result last year. Adam Lambert should have won but Kris Allen was adorable. Doesn’t really matter that much though.
As far as talent goes, I personally think that Christina Aguilera sang rings around all of them last night. It certainly was a weird song, but the vast difference in her ability compared to anyone else who performed, that’s what was “night and day” for me. Plus, she looked fantastic!
I think Lee did win because all the teen girls voted for him in huge numbers, but I think he will be about as big a star as David Cook. Crystal has more talent, in my opinion, and may sell more records than Lee in the long run.
The best thing about the show last night was that Adam Lambert wasn’t there!
Not a bit surprised. The clean, safe, non-threatening, bland, establishment pleasing ones always win. It is American Idol, not American Artist. They want someone that is completely unformed, so they can mold them into whatever the trend du jour wants. Artistry and integrity has always been an impediment on AI.
it was the upset of the century … Crystal should have wont the competion … but Lee is good too … but I think for the purpose of Simon Leaving they needed to throw in one last surprise … our newest American Idol is a paint store attendent … I can see the cover of the First Albumn already the title being “The Colors Of Life” was that peanut butter or chocolate? oh well best of luck to him
Crystal’s boyfriend also broke up with her the day of performances and she still came out and slayed it. She dominated the competition but still lost because of the tween/frau vote. At least last year’s finale was competitive; while Adam can sing circles around Kris, Kris has incredible artistic choices and is a brilliant arranger. This year she steamrolled him and still lost.

Not suprised at all. I always run polls leading up to the big finales of IDOL and SYTYCD and they always predict the winner accurately.

Honestly neither of the final 2 did anything for me at all. The only one I’m interested in this season is Siobhan Magnus. IMO that girl is a star in the making.
as usual america got it wrong again. or there is something evil going on behind the scenes like the actual vote counters.
What election has there ever been where people can vote more than once? That is the exact reason why these more-appealing less-talented people keep winning (Allen and now Dewyze.) Give each American one vote, even all those 14 year old girls, and I’d bet you money the real talent would win.
Though honestly at this point, I couldn’t care less. There hasn’t been a real American Idol since Carrie Underwood. And in the history of the show, there have really only been 2 (Kelly and Carrie.) Otherwise it’s just filler.
everyone knows that crystal should have won. she sang circles around lee. lee will be like all the other guys that won the show. rubin, taylor, dave, and chris are still trying to be an idol. you will see lee dewyze next year staring in “grease” the musical. no guy that has won the show has proven to be an “idol”. the male rock solo genre is dead and will be so until people stop listening to “rap”.
Wow, worst AI winner ever – and certainly includes Chris Allen. Chris didnt’ have the biggets voice, but he was always on key and maximized the limits of voice by augmenting it with strong musicianship and creativity.
Lee was off key every single freaking week.
Crystal was the obvious choice, with Siobhan the 2nd best (notwithstanding her horrible Shania Twain week).
