Anderson Cooper: Real Life Action Hero?

Anderson Cooper, Haiti, rescue

No, Anderson Cooper hasn't decided to pursue a second job as the next action movie star. The photograph you see above is not staged or altered. While covering a story in Haiti, the news anchor and his crew heard gunshots being fired. They ran towards the scene, where Cooper witnessed a small boy getting hit in the head with a concrete block. Fearing for the boy's life, he swept the boy off the ground to a safer location.

Due to his hesitance to come out of the closet, the word "coward" has often been attached to Cooper. This action goes to show that he's anything but a coward. It took extreme bravery for this man to enter a dangerous situation to save another human's life. We knew there was another reason he gained that "silver fox" nickname…

  1. what a fine example of being just a great human being….his sexual preference is of no concern and discussion of it is not relevant.

  2. There are so few people in the world today who would do the same if they were in his shoes. He is to be commended for the brave and carring person he is.

  3. I wish People would try 2 remember that someone personal life is just that personal . What Anderson Cooper did is why I think he is one of the greatest Anchor/Reporter of our time !!!

  4. It’s unfortunate that the situation is being made worse by looting, etc., but bless Anderson for being a good man. Who gives a rat’s butt if he’s straight, gay, or whatever. We can all aspire to be as human.

  5. I don’t understand why so many gay men insist on outing someone else. Whatever Anderson’s sexual preference/orientation is HIS business and nobody else’s.
That being said…I think he demonstrates the decent human being he is…and why so many people bond to him as an anchor.
    Anderson – you rock!!

  6. I read that Gandhi once said that all creatures have souls that is with the exception of journalists…
I am happy to see that Anderson was able to step from his journalist shoes and act!

  7. What he did is totally awesome. We should all aspire to be like him instead of trying to out him.
Do you guys realize that once you were afraid of being outed? And it took you time to do it.
I think the gay community should try and change ppl’s mind about us by doing good things….volunteer guys
I kow some of us do….would be great if more of us did

  8. not good on anderson’s part. journalists are supposed to report on the story not create one or be part of one themselves, the lines get blurred then.
not professional behavior on his part but then he should give up cnnn to do porn rather. would make me much happier

  9. In a technical sense, of course it’s Cooper’s decision whether to come out or not.
But like it or not, he’s special. He’s a role model, a celebrity, and in a position to do major good by coming out.
If a person’s about to fall from a cliff, I have the “right” to choose whether to help him up and over, or watch him fall. Nobody can “make” me help him. And yet, if I do allow him to fall, whether to injury or to death, people would be justified in saying “You were in a position to do something good, and you chose not to. We shun you.”
The only difference I see in this case is that while the amount of help Cooper’s coming out would provide to any one person might be limited, it would be of some help to millions. With the guy falling over the cliff, it’s a lot of help but only to one person.
One could argue that, in terms of total good accomplished, saving the person and Cooper’s coming out would be about equal. So if failing to do that amount of good for the cliff guy is so reprehensible, why is Cooper’s failure to step up and help the cause of gay rights any less so?

  10. I think Anderson Coopers actions were honorable. He could have potentially saved that kids life. As for his sexuality. That’s his personal business and should not being viewed by anyone as helping as cause or community. I don’t think anyone shouls look up to a celebrity, journalist, musician but should look inside themselves and come out when they are ready as opposed to waiting for someone else to make it ok.
If Cooper is gay he may never make it public like so many others never did before they passed.
