Strike A Pose, There’s Nothing To It

It's no secret that my guilty pleasure is America's Best Dance Crew, and I am ecstatic to hear that the upcoming season will feature a heavy dose of gay culture. One of the competing crews will be Vogue Evolution, a New York-based dance crew aiming to bring "house/ball culture to the mainstream media".

Beyond their incredible moves, the group's myspace page says they seek to "empower Black and Latino gay youth around self-value, while educating the community on HIV/AIDS awareness, and encouraging the importance of getting tested now." It'll be great to see such positive role models working it out for the new MTV generation.

  1. I really hope that superwing is being ironic and doesn’t actually think Madonna invented voguing.

  2. Of course she didn’t invent it, she brought it too the mainstream NOT Vogue Evolution whoever they are.

  3. I hope they do well. An east coast crew has never one that show and it would be cool if they go far in that competition. They have my blessing..!

  4. Madonna didn’t create “Voguing”, she copied it, packaged it and sold it as her own. It existed years before Madonna became the Queen of the Biters.

  5. Actually Jimm, Vogue Evolution will probably win. Every crew ever bit Leyomi Mizrahi’s style at least once on the show and made it very far.
