Weekly Top Ten Wild Card: No Logic

What do Lil Wayne, PJ Harvey, Deadmau5 and Jason Aldean have in common? They’re all competing for the final slot on our Weekly Top Ten countdown, and only you can determine who will appear on this weekend’s charts. Well, you and hundreds of other Manhunt Daily readers…

There was really no logic behind throwing these songs together, which means we have no clue who will wind up winning in the end. Sure, Lil Wayne may be the biggest name in this round, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s the best. Who will you be voting for?

– Dewitt

To listen to these selections and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

Lil Wayne f/ Cory Gunz – 6’7″: For the first single from The Carter IV, the so-called best rapper alive basically remakes “A Milli” with a Harry Belafonte sample. We’d call this a cheap move, but we’re just glad he got over that whole Rebirth phase…

PJ Harvey – Written On The Forehead: Witnessing a live performance by PJ Harvey is a magical experience. You see a tiny woman standing on the stage, and then this huge voice emerges from her. It kind of doesn’t make sense. Yet it’s fucking awesome. Despite her extreme talent, it’s pretty likely this won’t make it onto the Weekly Top Ten. Sad face!

Deadmau5 – Raise Your Weapon: Forgive my ignorance, but I don’t know shit about Deadmau5. With that said, I can get behind anyone who performs in a giant mouse head. This may or may not be his latest single. Um, maybe someone who knows about dance music should take over the keyboard and finish this blurb?

Jason Aldean f/ Kelly Clarkson – Don’t You Wanna Stay: It’s nice to know Kelly Clarkson is still alive! Her collaboration with Jason Aldean is slowly climbing up the country charts, and if we actually knew anything about the country charts… we’d say it has potential to become a number one hit!

  1. This mixed bag looks like a last minute work. I voted for Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson because is the only decent song, but it won’t go far on this site. And for the record, Deadma5’s latest single is not the one you are showing here. It’s called “Sofi needs a ladder”. Maybe in the new year you can bring it to the Wild Card.

  2. The Jason Aldean record has to be the most bombastic, over-produced nightmare I’ve heard in years. And that’s Kelly Clarkson? Didn’t know she could sound that “country”.

  3. …and yet, after listening to the first three cuts, Jason and Kelly are the only “artists” here who don’t sound like they’ve done WAAAAY too many drugs. And I’m a musician who’s been there and know.

  4. Are you kidding me? The Lil Wayne song sounds absolutely nothing like A Millie. You people need to leave rap and hip-hop alone because when it comes to that style of music you have no idea what the hell you’re talking about.

  5. Deadmau5 is an amazing Canadian DJ that focuses on house and electro. He’s been nominated for a Grammy, performed at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, and is recognized as an up and coming artist by big names in the industry such as Tiesto and Armin van Buuren.

  7. I can’t believe the lack of love for PJ. She’s the only artist on this list who means anything, anyway.

  8. I didn’t know you were a musician! So am I. Hanging it up after this weekend tho. Been on the road twenty years and I’m burned out. I have to agree with you. The others just sound stoned. My vote went for Jason and Kelly.

  9. Look. Just because you listen to it doesn’t mean you know *expletive* either! As atrained musician, I know music. And this isn’t music. If you don’t like my opinion, well…. *sigh*… It’s my opinion. You don’t have to like it.

  10. Really?!? So the hits that Kelly has mean nothing? Wow…. Such a revelation. So many people that have no clue about music. Must feel good to be the only one who does… I guess I’ll have to run all of my music selections by you before I listen to them from now on. NOT!

  11. PJ HARVEY!!!!

I’m a rap fan myself, but I just don’t like Lil’ Wayne because his voice bothers me. I’m a huge fan of Kanye, Nicki & Big Boi. TI’s okay, I guess. He’s supa hot tho. But yeah, Kanye is like, the best rapper ever. His album is so amazing and will change the minds of the most anti-rap people around! Take a listen to “Monster” (SO excited for the vid!) or “Lost in the World” or “Power” and there is no way you can not like those songs!

Anyways, PJ Harvey’s got my vote, of course! 🙂
