Never underestimate the power of one man’s tweet. After Chris Salvatore found out that he had a chance on the Weekly Top Ten, he made sure to tell all of his followers on Twitter. With their support, he managed to get his latest single “Dirty Love” to the top of the countdown, surpassing such chart favorites as Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga and Kelly Rowland.
But does that make him 2010’s Song of Summer? Not yet, but we’ll tell you who definitely won’t be taking the title. Katy Perry, Ne-Yo, Ciara and Katie Melua failed to receive enough votes to stay in the game, so we sent them packing along with Wild Card rejects Taio Cruz and Alexis Jordan.
So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, put your finger in Brock Magnum‘s butt while I explain the rules to you. Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

- Chris Salvatore – Dirty Love (LW – 8, W2): We bashed this song in the past, but let’s focus on the positive aspects for a moment. For starters, Chris Salvatore is extraordinarily attractive. And he’s really good at promoting himself! You’ve won this time, my friend. But can you do it again? Yup, you can consider that a challenge.
- Kylie Minogue – All The Lovers (LW – 1, W10): While this is still our personal pick for 2010’s Song of Summer, we might change our mind if Kylie gets around to releasing a music video for “Get Outta My Way”. Hopefully, it’ll pick up where this one leaves off–with a giant pile of writhing, nearly naked people.
- Lady Gaga – Alejandro (LW – 2, W8): Sorry, all you little monsters! As much as we love Gaga, we think it’s time to acknowledge that this isn’t her summer. Take comfort in the fact that she took the title back in 2009 with “LoveGame”. Want to prove me wrong on this? Well, you’ll have to vote a lot harder.
- Kelly Rowland – Commander (LW – 4, W13): Of course, we should acknowledge that Kelly Rowland took part in last summer’s unofficial Song of Summer, given her vocal presence on David Guetta’s hit dance single “When Love Takes Over”. The pair came together again on this jam, and it’s almost as magical as before. Almost.
- Adam Lambert – If I Had You (LW – 5, W6): This has to be a record for Adam Lambert, no? His previous single haven’t done too well on our countdown, but his latest track has just hit the six week mark. How much longer will he last? His fate lies in your hands…
- Scissor Sisters – Fire With Fire (LW – 3, W5): With no disrespect to Katy Perry, we had to keep it in the family for this week’s saved selection. Plus, we’re kind of tired of daisy dukes, bikinis on top and everything having to do with that song.
- Enrique Iglesias f/ Pitbull – I Like It (RETURN): Do people actually like this wretched song? Or are they just voting for it because Enrique’s absolutely gorgeous? Whatever the case may be, I suppose we’ll have to deal with its presence on the countdown.
- Christina Aguilera – You Lost Me (DEBUT): I guess we have to include this bitch because she’s a diva or something. It’s amazing how much respect I’ve lost for Christina Aguilera after Bionic, to the point that I can’t even enjoy one of the legitimately good songs from the album. Maybe you feel differently. In which case, you should probably vote for her.
- Wynter Gordon – Dirty Talk (DEBUT): Oddly enough, Wynter Gordon never actually appeared on the Weekly Top Ten, even though we featured this song several months back. Forget about second chances! After all the positive feedback she received in the Wild Card round, this up-and-coming star deserves her first chance.
- Christina Perri – Jar of Hearts (DEBUT): From waiting on tables to performing live on So You Think You Can Dance, the past few weeks have been a whirlwind for singer-songwriter Christina Perri. The excitement from her breakout single may have died down a bit, but we still think she may have a chance.
I voted for Kylie, Enrique and Christina. I guess is time to put “Get outta my way” in the countdown. The video might take a couple of months. If not, my suggestion for next week is “Wonderful Life” by Hurts.
They’re a British duo that sounds very 80s and if it worked for La Roux, why not for these guys. The Freemasons did an awesome remix for this track.
I’m glad to see Adam and Kelly sticking around. They got my votes again this week.
It’s a crime that Katy Perry’s California Gurls dropped out. It’s easily the REAL song of the summer.
My last vote went to Christina simply because I like her. The song is good, but she really needs to put out better material if she wants to be a real contender.

Chris Salvatore’s song is so fucking stupid. I used to think he was cute in Eating Out 3, but 10 seconds into that awful, amateur video all attraction to him completely ceased. He shouldn’t even be on this countdown. No one I know or would even care to know has heard of that song.
That song being number one is a fucking travesty and blight upon the countdown.
That Chris song isn’t as bad as I expected it to be. It isn’t great. But it’s not like it’s worse than any other of the crap music on this countdown.
Who is the cranky old bitch that writes the reviews…..negative negative negative….and GaGa got 68 Million dollars and a concert tour that’s sold out until next year to prove it’s not only her summer but her year

Therein lies the problem. Stop vetting the songs to see which one MAY withstand the competition with all of this other musical dander, and put interesting music up. To hell with the need for a sexy video or a sexy performer or a sexy beat. Actual music! *shock*

I can’t believe Chris made it to the top. It actually takes a Twitter campaign to do that. I should start one then to bring back Nicky Minaj’s “Your Love” back. It has a great video. I also like the song by Hurts. It brought memories from my techno days.

Stop hating on Christina! Bionic is an amazing album and “You Lost Me” a great song. She should’ve released another single for the summer though..or spent more than $5 on the video.. but she’s a true and complete artist and people like Adam Lambert or others in this chart should bow before her!

Wonderful Life by Hurts next week or bring back Alive by Goldfrapp, the current #1 on the Billboard Club Chart. Both songs have a retro vibe. As usual, Kylie got my vote this week along Ms. Aguilera and Enrique. Pitbull is a total hottie.
That Dirty Love song is really just terrible. I mean listen to it. It completely rips off the song structure of Bad Romance. Hell, it’s basically ripping off the title too.
How about Shontelle “Impossible” not every song need be a dance song right?
