Weekly Top Ten: Can Pink Take Down Kelis?

For the third week in a row, eccentric dance diva Kelis has dominated our Weekly Top Ten music charts. As Kylie Minogue continues to slip down in the rankings, it looks like Pink and Rihanna will take a place as the biggest threats to her reign. Of course, there may also be some unlikely competition from, wait for it… Willow Smith.

Unfortunately, some folks didn’t whip their hair hard enough to stay on the countdown. Christina Aguilera, La Roux, Rye Rye and Ace of Base are among this group, so we’ll have to send them packing along with Wild Card rejects Sheryl Crow, Epica and Chris Salvatore.

So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, take a moment to fondle Carter while I explain the rules to you. Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

To check out the charts and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Kelis – Scream (LW – 1, W4): Never underestimate the power of a fierce music video and a David Guetta dance beat. It’s worked wonders for Kelly Rowland in the past, and now Kelis is snatching her wig and taking over the countdown. Work it out, girl! Prove to those other bitches that they can’t take you down.
  2. Pink – Raise Your Glass (LW – 3, W4): Pink continues her climb to total domination. After this music video makes its debut, we have a feeling “Raise Your Glass” will receive a spike in votes. Have you heard she’ll be officiating a gay wedding in the video? Probably, because we’ve told you five or seven times…
  3. Rihanna – Only Girl (In The World) (LW – 4, W7): We know Rihanna already released the second single from Loud, but we’re still not over this track. It’s everything our little gay hearts could desire, wrapped up in a tight bow of European dance flavor. Glad to see you’re still on the charts!
  4. Kylie Minogue – Get Outta My Way (LW – 2, W8): Oh, Kylie! How is it that your vastly superior single is performing worse than your previous one? There must be some form of injustice going on here. Or maybe there’s just some stronger competition? Either way, we hope you bounce back.
  5. Robyn – Indestructible (LW – 7, W2): Given her lack of popularity within the US market, it should be enough that Robyn’s even on these charts. But we can’t help it! We want her to excel beyond fourth or fifth place. Whether you agree or disagree, we think she deserves to be on top.
  6. Scissor Sisters – Any Which Way (LW – 5, W10): We should probably let this one go, right? It’s been on the charts for ten weeks, and we’ve almost forgotten about it by now. Then again, Jake Shears is so fucking hot! There’s no way we could let him down…
  7. Willow Smith – Whip My Hair (WILD CARD): You can laugh all you want about the introduction to this post, but Willow Smith could pose a serious threat on this countdown. How are we so confident about her appeal? She received more votes than Kelis in the Wild Card round. In the charts’ short history, we’ve rarely never seen numbers like that!
  8. Ke$ha – We R Who We R (DEBUT): This may be the musical equivalent of rotting garbage, but at least Ke$ha’s trying to send out a positive message, right? While it doesn’t help that nearly everyone is skeptical of her intentions, it’s a step up from songs about throwing up in someone’s closet.
  9. Duffy – Well, Well, Well (DEBUT): Even though Sharon Jones is much more talented in the retro-soul department, the harsh truth is that Duffy beats her when it comes to popularity. Also, we promised you this would be on the charts, so we can’t back out now…
  10. Taio Cruz f/ Kylie Minogue – Higher (DEBUT):

  1. I went with Kylie (we need to see her back on top), Robyn and Duffy. I have two suggestions for the Wild Card and they are both country, although is not my favorite kind of music.

“If I die young” by The Band Perry and “Stuck like glue” by Sugarland. The videos are good and check the hottie in the Sugarland video. Just to have something different from the usual dance beats and we have plenty of that in the countdown.

  2. Taio Cruz has put out some of the best music of the year with Break Your Heart and Dynamite. He easily got my vote here and it has nothing to do with the remix with Kylie.

Vote also went to Duffy and Rihanna. I want to acknowledge that Rihanna’s new music is a billion times better than the glop that was clogging up Rated R.

  3. Pink, Rihanna, & Willow get my vote! My only suggestion would be “Where You Are” by Cali Swagg District. I already KNOW it’s not going to make it into the ten, but totally worth checking out.

  4. Why was I sent to a site that wouldn’t let me listen without paying for it? WTF is soundcloud? Dewitt, do you get payola from soundcloud?

  5. I love the Pink song!

I agree with JPH who mentioned the Sugarland song “Stuck Like Glue”, its very catchy, has a contageous chorus and the guy in the video is delicious!!!! YUM YUM YUM!!!

  6. Duffy, Robyn and Kylie. They are the best three of the options. As I promised earlier this week, I am suggesting another UK blond singer for the Wild Card.

“Broken Arrow” by Pixie Lott. Her sixth single to break into the Top 20 in the UK in 2 years. It’s a ballad, but it benefits from a nice video with some cute guys.

  7. I like the Sugarland some as well, but how come no one has mention here “Barbra Streisand” by Duck Sauce. It’s already a smash in Europe and it’s charting in America on the dance airplay list. Check the video to catch a glimpse of Kanye, Pharell and Santigold.

  8. I’m glad Duffy is getting some votes, but I also hope Kylie can recover and start climbing back. My other vote is for the underrated, but indestructible Robyn Carlsson.

I’d love to see “Body Shots” by Kaci Battaglia in this chart. It’s a catchy dance pop song and the video is hot. I mean if a skank like Ke$ha can get away with it, why not Kaci who looks very sexy in this video and it’s way hotter than Ke$ha.

  9. YEAH! Donna Summer tops the official Billboard Dance Play chart this upcoming week with “To Paris With Love”, which oddly has been missing from this countdown. 5 decades of number one songs! Congrats Donna!

  10. Why don’t you do a Wild Card titled “Battle of the Blondes” and include Pixie Lott, Kaci Battaglia, the chick from Sugarland and the one from The Band Perry. They are all blonde. Two Brits vs Two Americans. I love that song “If I die young”. One of the most melodic country tunes I heard in a long time.

  11. PINK, RIHANNA, KESHA!

Next week let’s get Nelly Furtado’s new song on “Night is Young”

    AND

The Black Eyed Peas have the best dance/techno song of the decade out “The Time”

  12. I second Nelly Furtado. She has a greatest hits package due out on Nov 16th with 4 new songs and then in April a brand new all english album. Cant wait.

Pink and Kesha for me this week.

  13. I am so over Rhianna, ban her she is just being commercial to make money, no good music coming out of her barbadan mouth Umbrella was her last decent song, she’s milking it for all it’s worth, but you people keep pushing her and downloading her music so shame on you

  14. I second Barbra Steisand by Duck Sauce, its a bit on the random side, but deliciously catchy and likeable. Anything produced by Armand van Helden deserves to mentioned

Please do not promote The Time by the BEP, its utter garbage. Patrick Swayze would be rolling in his grave, it desecrates (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life!!!

  15. Pink and Kesha all the way!

Here are my picks for next week in order:

    1. The Time – Black Eyed Peas
    2. Firework – Katy Perry
    3. Night is Young – Nelly Furtado

  16. Rihanna – love it!!! Although I wonder why she has had so much success with this song and yet Commander by Rowland failed in North America. It is the same song, isn’t it? Haha.

I saw the video preview for Firework by Katy Perry – she looks amazing with the purple hair. One of her tamer songs, but i like it.

I also like Nelly Furtado’s new one. Is there a vid for it yet?
