Vote For The Weekly Top Ten Wild Card

Did you think that I was brushing off complaints that our Weekly Top Ten charts are too stereotypically gay? I'm not that much of a bitch. For this week's Wild Card round, I made an attempt at choosing songs from a variety of genres–indie, rock, hip-hop and country. I'd hardly consider any of them stereotypical, but who am I to make those designations and assign labels?

So without further ado, today's round includes new music by The xx, Darius Rucker, Three Days Grace and Gucci Mane. If you're frustrated by these selections, please take a moment to make a suggestion! Feel free to rant all you want, but it won't be productive unless we have anything to work with.

As usual, you have one night to vote for the song that will move on to Saturday's countdown. Yes, only one of these choices will have a moment of glory. What are you waiting for? Take your finger out of your butt and submit your vote!

The xx – VCR: Have I misguided you into believing that I do nothing but rub glitter all over my body while listening to Lady Gaga? Believe it or not, I've had British band The xx's latest album on heavier rotation than Gaga's The Fame Monster. Their mellow indie tunes help me chill out after a stressful day.

———————————————————————————

Darius Rucker – History In The Making: It kind of blows my mind that the former frontman of Hootie & The Blowfish is now a bona fide country star. His first single "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" hit number one on the country charts back in September 2008, and he's followed it up with another pair of number ones. Will his latest tune match that success? Let's hope so!

———————————————————————————

Three Days Grace – Break: I have no desire to ever listen to this song, but it's topped the Billboard Rock Charts… so somebody must like it, right? Considering that modern rock isn't quite my territory, I'd love suggestions for songs we can feature on our Weekly Top Ten in the future. I'm trying to bring some new genres into the mix, and I'll just keep picking sucky songs like this if you don't help me.

Gucci Mane – Lemonade: Although we've featured hip-hop on the Weekly Top Ten in the past, none of the songs have been particularly successful. This one's produced by Bangladesh, the man behind Lil Wayne's "A Milli" and Beyonce's "Diva". In other words, it's kind of annoying but totally addictive. Love that chorus!

  1. How about groups like “Psapp” and “Of Montreal”.
Choices above I had to go with Darius, even though I am not a country fan. He is the best of the bunch.

  2. For the rock genre you could try “Let It Go” by Cavo and/or “Give Me A Sign” by Breaking Benjamin.

  3. Wow…The second I saw Gucci, I literally let out an audible “Eww”, haha! He is literally the worst rapper ever.
How about “Up Out My Face” by Mariah Carey ft. Nicki Minaj

  4. I can’t believe you’d call Three Days Grace sucky and you put Gucci Mane up there. ::rolls eyes::
How about Chevelle – Letter From A Thief

  5. For the third week in a row I am not voting. Honestly, these choices are terrible. It’s OK trying to get away from the cliche gay dance music, but bringing rappers into the equation? And those bad rock bands. At least include a female artist to go against any of these guys, even if she doesn’t make it to the chart.

  6. My vote goes to three days grace… i loved their song “I hate everythin about you”, atleasgt untill it turned into a painful reminder of a horrible break up. but still not the bands fault andthe new stuff is good.

  7. hey guys theres a song from german dj name Mousse T feat. Suzie call ALL NIGTH LONG D.I.S.C.O…
Its a bit old but i think it could be a great add to the charts… Its probably the gayest video ever…..
