Unlockables: The Great Face Conundrum

DSC02118

Once upon a time, a friend of mine was complaining that he couldn't get a date through Manhunt. He was tired of the hook-up scene and looking for something a little more fulfilling. When he showed me his profile, I nearly slapped his damn head. He had nothing but naughty shots in his public pictures. He explained that he thought sexual compatibility and attraction were important for him in a relationship. I obviously do too, but I wouldn't be parading around my goods if I were looking for a husband!

Another time, a different friend was bitching that all anyone ever wanted to do was date him. He had just gotten out of a long-term relationship, and his priority at the time was getting some good dick. He showed me his profile, and there wasn't a single body picture! I tried to explain to him that his face pictures were adorable, but they made him look too cute and approachable. We did a little photo shoot, and by the end of it… well, let's just say I single-handedly helped solve his whole "getting laid" problem. Oh, and the pictures helped too.

This may seem obvious, but I'm often flabbergasted by the amount of guys who don't grasp this concept. If you want to get sex, you should show your body. If you're looking for love, you shouldn't look like a raging slut. Has anyone else run into guys like this?

  1. Yah. They show their dick and ass or them having sex but ‘have a great bf only want friends’. Which to me is stupid because you KNOW it’s a site for hooking up so chances are the only friends you’re going to find want to fuck you. It’s a whole thing that’s just irritating and stupid.

  2. Guys with only dick pics are usually either in relationships or have really out-of-shape bodies and think if they can trick you into showing up, you’ll sleep with them anyway. That’s why I don’t hook up with dick pics anymore.
Personally, I think whether you’re looking for love or sex, you should at least post a full-body picture (fully-clothed or not). Honestly present yourself, and the guys who will be into you will be more likely to contact you.
And yeah, the “Just looking for friends, don’t want sex. Here’s a shot of my hard cock!” guys are kind of annoying.

  3. What kills me is guys who post pics of themselves that are outdated from 10 to 40 years ago. Sure, these guys were hot back in the day…but c’mon. I should not have to ask if your son/grandson is home when you open the door.

  4. The only problem I have is………..wanting to go on dates with the hot guys that show themselves on all fours and/or in a jockstrap. Obviously I see their face pic too, but when I see that I’m like yes a slut, but hopefully just a slut with his future BF. lol

  5. The biggest problem is that most guys fail to grasp the fact this site is called ManHUNT–not FriendFinder, not CoffeeMates, not LoveConnection! So, the whole “not into hook-ups” bullshit that is so rampant is infuriating, if not hilarious. Seriously, do they honestly think they’re fooling anyone with half a brain with these coy deceptions?–especially when they’re “just looking for friends” [who, oddly, have to be “under 30”–WTF??] while posting pics of themselves in their over-priced designer undies! LOL

  6. It’s really annoying when some guys rather smugly state they have found the love of their lives, if so WTF are they doing on here?

  7. as said before… manhunt is arguably the best gay hookup site to make friends instead of hookup.
it doesn’t mean they WON’T hookup, it’s just not their focus 😛

  8. The above comments reflect what I have written on my profile and I only have a facepic. So true and some people are so transparent….this is only a bit of fun and if soemthing serious comes of it then great!
    take care everybody!

  9. The issue I’ve been having is I have no naughty pictures and am looking just to meet people, and the overwhelming majority of the time I’m getting illiterate guys who want sex, much of the time anonymous. Explain that one to me….

  10. @Steve: Gayfucius says, “He who hunts stallion on donkey farm should not be surprised when he catch only ass.”

  11. with respect to those who are only looking for friends: some towns/cities have NO decent place to meet guys, no bars, clubs, etc. MH is a way of doing that. I have met just guys to hang out with on MH, as well as hookups. if someone says they’re just looking for friends, then accept it. it’s their prerogative, and their reasons are their own. MH may be the only place they feel comfortable meeting guys, for whatever purpose.

  12. @Luke: Wait 20 or so years, and see how you turn out after asking such an asinine question.
Sadly, it’s a vicious cycle, here. While youth and beauty adverts saturate the gay media, marketers rely heavily on the gay spending power of the older demographics….who, no doubt, will spend it on products aimed at the youth market.

  13. my issue is the number of dick shots as the main profile pic for bottoms, its kinda odd that you are out there advertising what you are looking for, instead of what you are providing

  14. I take issue more with guys who say they are desperate for friends their own age but then delete a hello message I send them. Specify that you want “hot friends I might fuck someday” rather than “friends my age.”
Face pics are fine even if you are looking to hook up though body pics help. But naked pics when looking for friends? We have a few like that here in Wilmington, NC already.
