Tim Burton Makes Johnny Depp As Unsexy As Possible

Wonderland, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bohema-Carter, Tim Burton
Is anyone excited to see the new Alice in Wonderland? I'm a big fan of Tim Burton's work, though I'm a little skeptical after what he did with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Luckily, the original story by Lewis Carroll is fucked up enough to work with a Burton touch.
Check out some promo shots above with Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as The White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter as The Queen of Hearts. I'm pretty excited about this… definitely not in the sexual way.

  1. NO NO NO NO!
I hate when Tim Burton makes a movie and screws with the original plot.
Then he uses the same people over and over.
Johnny Depp seems he always feed over his popularity and vise versa vicious cycle of lameness
Helena Bonham Carter cause it his wife.
The White Queen!?!?!? I like Anne Hathaway lots but he’s screwing with the story!
I know I’ll incur the wrath of many from this, but whatever man.

  2. To be fair, when Tim Burton re-did Willy Wonka his version was VERY close to the original stage version (which I’m assuming is close to the book version, but have never actually read it). As for the twists he does make. . .that’s why people LIKE Burton films. . .and once you are famous, it is normal to develop people that you ‘always’ work with, look at Adam Sandler.

  3. Don’t know how I feel about this just yet, but I’m keeping an open mind, so I’ll just wait and see.

  4. It’s actually from McGee’s “Alice” where it’s ALOT darker (Alice uses a cleaver as a weapon) and all of the characters are much darker…he’s actually doing a bang up job for what the original game looked like.

  5. Jeremy is right. The Burton version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is incredibly close to the book and original stage play. Burton has a knack for bringing the story back to the original. He also picks stories that already have a weird twist to it, so his own bizarre style fits right in. I am so excited for this!

  6. This is why I hate DISNEY! The original stories get lost so easily when all people remember are the kid friendly and ending/main plot altered stories they create.
The Little Mermaid died at the end.
The whole cast of The Hunchback pretty much died as well.
I am not a huge fan of his work, but would love to see Burton’s take on something like Beauty and the Beast… or the Little Mermaid.
Burton is like the lovechild of Dr Suess and Ann Rice

  7. Adrian, hate to tell you, but you might look up the White Queen in relation to Alice in Wonderland… Per Wikipedia “The White Queen is a fictional character who appears in Lewis Carroll’s fantasy novella Through the Looking-Glass. With a motif of Through the Looking-Glass being representations of the game of chess, the White Queen could be viewed as a protagonist and ally to Alice, although she is perhaps less helpful than the Red Queen in terms of the information she divulges. ”
So he is not ‘screwing’ with the story, it sounds as if he is going to use both “Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass”
