Remembering Gay Porn Icon Jack Wrangler

Jack Rangler
Gay porn icon Jack Wrangler has passed away today due to complications from lung disease. Wrangler, born John Robert Stillman in 1946, got his start as a child actor on a religious family show called Faith of Our Children, but he's primarily known for his work in the gay adult entertainment industry in the '70s. He's said to be "one of the first performers in gay porn to achieve star status and a cult following".

In the 1980s, Wrangler made a switch to straight porn. Though his first sexual encounter with a woman was apparently on film, he wound up marrying pop singer Margaret Whiting in 1994. The two met in 1976 when Wrangler confided in her that he was gay, to which she replied "only around the edges, dear". Yowsers! I wonder what Michael Musto would have to say about this bisexual flip-flop?
Most recently, Wrangler has made a name for himself as an actor, writer and producer in the theatre world. But that's not all… he's also known for his support of HIV/AIDS charities and was the subject of a GayVN award-winning documentary. Long story short, he was an extraordinary man who wore many hats–a true renaissance man (who just so happened to do porn).

  1. Wrangler definitely knew how to burn up the screen. He made some of the hottest films of his time.

  2. His work with HIV/AIDS is really noteworthy.
And what equipment on him! Anyone got his measurements? 🙂

  3. I met Jack a number of years ago. He might have been short height-wise but he had an enormous personality. A nice guy all-round.
