Plucky Students Suspended by Principal

Frida Kahlo

Fifteen male high school students in Matamoros, Mexico were suspended for plucking their eyebrows. The principal, Rubén Reyes Urbina, blasted that fashionable practice because it is "unique to women or youth with a homosexual tendency."

Not only is this grossly homophobic and inhumane, it sets up a slippery slope. I mean, where does it end? Today, he doesn't want guys plucking their eyebrows, then tomorrow he won't want them sucking each other off in the bathroom. What's next? By Christmas, the principal is going to declare that douching is off limits, too! What a sick, unhygienic bastard.

Thankfully, The Tamaulipan Youth Institute (Itjuve) has jumped to the rescue, issuing this statement: “No one can be denied the right to enter an institution simply because
they look different to the rest of the alumni or because they decided
to make a change in their person. We clearly see a
discrimination that is worrisome since it is a center that shapes
individuals which is not in the best of hands."

Personally, I don't mind thick, even sprawling eyebrows. It can be enigmatically sexy on the right guy.  What would Frida would have to say about all this?
