I’m still not sold on heavily-hyped band MS MR. The New York duo’s debut album Secondhand Rapture can currently be heard in full on Hype Machine, and I’m trying so hard to not draw comparisons between lead vocalist Plapinger and other female singers on the market right now. Unfortunately? I’m not trying hard enough. She sounds like Florence Welch without the payoff, Lana Del Rey without the mystique and Ellie Goulding without the vulnerable charm that makes her sort of likable. She’s not bad by any means. She’s just not commanding me to connect with the music.
To each his own! The pair’s single “Hurricane” has been gaining some traction within the past month, and it won’t be too long before these two are performing on American Idol or some shitty reality dance competition. You should get familiar with them now, if you’re one of those people who cares about being ahead of the curve… Of course, if you are one of those people, you might already be behind the curve by discovering them so late in the game.

PS: I will admit that there’s some charm to track eight, “Think of You”. Expect to hear that one on the radio.

I like! Great strong crisp vocals.
Saw these guys open for Marina and the Diamonds. They weren’t bad, but I spent most of the time eyeing the stunning blonde boy on the keyboard. 😉
The original version of “Hurricane“: Was one of the most unusual video’s I ever saw!
The music did work with it no doubt.
