Michael Jackson Breaks Several Billboard Chart Records

Thriller Michael Jackson
It's hard to figure out where to begin when describing the number of Billboard chart records Michael Jackson broke this past week. From physical album sales to digital downloads, the King of Pop is reigning the charts once again. Here's a run-down of a few of his records:
  • The top nine spots of Billboard's Top Pop Catalog Albums chart are occupied by Jackson.
  • Jackson holds the top four spots of the Top Digital Albums chart, with a record-breaking six titles in the top ten slots. The songs included are "Thriller", "Man in the Mirror", "Billie Jean", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Beat It" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough".
  • This week marks the first time that a catalog album (Number Ones) has sold more than the current number one album on the Billboard 200 charts, the Black Eyed Peas The E.N.D.
  • Jackson holds the top three spots on the Top Comprehensive Albums list with Number Ones, Essential and Thriller.
  • David Cook's record-breaking 14 songs on the Hot Digital Songs chart looks like child's play when compared to Jackson's 25 placements.
  • Jackson is the first artist to sell over 1 million digital song downloads in one week.

Michael saved the industry back in the 1980s, and it looks like he's doing his part from the grave to resuscitate today's dying industry. No wonder they call him the King of Pop!

  1. It’s great that everyone wants to own the music that was, and still is legendary. R.I.P. Michael Jackson.

  2. No matter what people may think of Jackson, the guy had chops back in the day. His peculiar life aside, he was and always will be a music legend. RIP Michael.
