Listen To Madonna’s New Single “Girls Gone Wild”

As you’re all well aware, I am not the biggest fan of Madonna‘s recent material. Even so, I’ve been waiting for that magic moment in the MDNA campaign where I’m like, “Damn, girl! You’ve proven me wrong. This is what I’ve been waiting for all along.” My distaste for Madge doesn’t come from a malicious place. It’s more about her inability to live up to her reputation as one of pop music’s greatest living treasures.

So, with that said, has “Girls Gone Wild” changed my mind about her current direction?

The short answer? No. While I’m not going to sit here and pretend that it’s not a “fun” song, it’s only slightly less forgettable than her previous single “Gimme All Your Luvin'”. My desire to press repeat after the first listen was miniscule. In fact, this is so frickin’ generic that I kept wondering when the guest verse from Flo Rida or Pitbull would pop in…

Yet my opinion is more insignificant than I’ll ever know. This track will be blaring from the speakers of every gay club in existence from now until the end of the weekend, as homos everywhere wave their hands and act like this is the second coming of Jesus. “It’s like a lost session from the ‘Confessions’ era!” they’ll say with excitement. And I’ll just cry to myself silently, feeling like I’m the only man-loving man who doesn’t blindly adore Madonna. ::sigh::

  1. It’s like Confessions 2.0
catchy, i like it. much better than Gimme All Your Luvin.
Getting excited about her new album with this

  2. You queens have such short memories Jesus she is 53 just be thankful she is still making music and cares as much for her art as ever.. even when she misses the mark its still better than the majority of so called female artists that would not have a career if she didn’t blaze the trail..! YET I bet you all LOVE someone like ‘Kylie’ one of the most bland fence sitting performers in our lifetime..! At the end of the day she is ‘Madonna’ and whatever she releases between now and her death doesn’t matter she made her mark..! Madonna is having fun and STILL the creative genius she has always been and in two hundred years when we are all dead and buried it will be ‘MADONNA’ musical artists and historians will be referencing..! That is guaranteed.

  3. This song is terrible. That being said It will be a huge hit. Why? Because, unfortunately for most of us, the music that is currently selling off the shelves is terrible. She’s doing a very smart thing by making music that sounds like this. She’s ensuring that an entire new generation falls in love with her. I don’t like the song but I support Madonna fully. She’s a genius business woman.

  4. Not my favorite Madonna, but then again, my favorite was always the unpopular ballads.  She made herself on bubblegum pop just like this, and she’s always taken gambles on her music.  It’s always worked out for her, and I expect this will too.  Kudos Madonna, I will always be a fan.

  5. She wants a hit single and she isn’t going to get one by showing her brillance.  The songs that hit the top 10 are currently bland David Guetta Eurovision sounding drivel.  I actually think this song is a grower and could be the hit she is after even though its no where near her best form.

As for your comment on gay clubs and their music, they have always played the worst dance music!!  I wouldn’t be caught dead in a gay club while I still have my hearing.  Partying with the straights is always the best options.

  6. Totally better than the first, but like Pollux said, it sounds like the rest of the popular music out there, this is more a grab for relevance in a time of horrible music. My hope is the folks that are just now finding Madonna don’t ignore the massive history she’s had before now, and realize how amazing she actually can be. It’s scary to try and be innovative these days, because it’s so easy to be written off, even if you’re Madonna, people will raise their eyebrows and go “eeeehhhhhh….” if you try and do something new. ESPECIALLY if you’re a huge name like her. It’s part of why Indie music has taken off, they’re more innovative and not afraid to show off their talent, and not electrifying  their voices into pure awfulness.

Random note, I also agree with Casey, my faves of Madge were her ballads for the most part…

The song was bland, but I know it’s gonna be played all over the place. *shrug*, I’ll stick with Kimbra, Lykke Li, The Ting Tings, Ingrid Michealson, and Utada.

  7. Madonna should get someone like Diane Warren to write her an age appropriate song, she’s in her 50s no one is gonna buy this attempt to fit in with today’s music, it is embarassing.  She is an icon but a slow Diane Warren ballad might redeem her, this will not

  8. The biggest difference between Madonna fans and Kylie fans is that those of us who actually know Kylie’s material inside out realise that she doesn’t think she’s got to be ahead of the game, that she’s got to be controversial to sell her stuff.  She’s happy to do her own thing and that’s why she’s respected by the rest of the world and doesn’t focus her energies on the American market.  As for saying she’s “bland fence performer” – clearly you’ve never seen her live and the fact that Madonna’s Superbowl performance completely ripped off Kylie’s 2011 tour……. you’re blowing smoke out of your ass!  And as for dissing everyone else as “queens” because they have a different opinion to yours, go fuck yourself.  Sister.
