Joseph Gordon-Levitt Likes Being Gay

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Well, in movies that is… Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently sat down with the Advocate and talked about his many movie roles, including his role as a gay hustler in the movie Mysterious Skin. He said that playing the role gave him acting cred. Before the movie, people only knew him as the funny kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun.

“Even though I played a guy that was turning tricks with dudes, I find it reassuring and encouraging about the days we live in that the people who respond to and recognize me from that movie are not disproportionately gay. That’s good, because people in past generations who weren’t gay might’ve been closed-minded to watching that movie and wanting to hear that story…But lots of people have gone through bad things when they were kids, so lots of people come up and tell me that movie meant a lot to them, and the reactions have been really meaningful, but, again, I wouldn’t say that it leans gay. You know who responds to that movie? Actors. More actors bring up that movie than anything else. That movie was a huge, huge deal for me because it was really the first time people said, ‘We used to think of him as the funny kid on the sitcom, but oh, wow, this guy can act.'”

Well, I’m all for him doing playing another gay character. Hopefully, he’ll do an indie film where he shows us his cock. We got a glimpse of his ass in Mysterious Skin and now all we need to see is his penis. Seriously, kudos to him for being open-minded about his acting roles.

  1. That’s actually pretty interesting. Wonder what the Westboro Church has to say. Let’s ask Fred Phelps.

  2. The rape scene in Mysterious Skin is unsettlingly hot, both the movie and the book.

Joseph-Gordon Levitt is the best actor of his (my) generation.

  3. I remember when he reprised the role of the emotionally/behaviorally disturbed David Collins in the ’91 prime-time remake of “Dark Shadows.” Even though many of the performers were miscast, he was perfect.

  4. I can’t watch Mysterious Skin. Neil reminds me too much of how I used to be when I was younger and it disturbs me to no end. It’s a very well done move though.

On a lighter-note, Joseph is HOT! Always thought he was.

  5. weren’t we just talking about him the other day? i have not seen mysterious skin, but i’ve always thought he’s a great actor. i loved him 500 days of summer and 10 things i hate about you.

  6. I like the fact that he took the role as an actor and wasn’t worried about what his fans might think…it broadened his range on the kinds of roles he can play and with his role in the new Leo Dicaprio movie broadened his range even further…more American actors should do the same.

  7. I just saw him in Inception, and he was great. The stylist put him in some very sexy outfits, in particular some lovely vests!
