Forget the old saying about 15 minutes of fame – at the rate that Netflix is putting out vampire-themed shows and movies, everyone will appear in a fang-club film from the streaming service. Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg are the latest, hunting the undead in the Day Shift trailer, which has just dropped.
Foxx here plays Bud Jablonski, a man who uses the cover of working as a pool cleaner for his actual income — hunting vampires. But when a series of problematic kills sees him drummed out of the International Union of Vampire Hunters, Bud must get back in, lest he lose his main source of income and see his wife and daughter move to Florida.
What’s really at stake – pun entirely intended – is the continued survival of the human race, since in this vampire-loaded world, the murderous, blood-thirsty creatures are everywhere… and must be stopped.
This one comes from a group that has worked on the John Wick films (a fact the trailer is happy to promote). Director JJ Perry has been a stuntman/stunt co-ordinator and second-unit director on several of them, while co-writer Shay Hatten has worked on the more recent ones. And not forgetting regular Wick director Chad Stahelski, who is a producer here.
Day Shift will hit Netflix on 12 August.
