I’m honestly not sure how I first came across Chad Hunter, one of the newer, brighter faces in porn these days. I know he follows my Tumblr, and at some point, I started following his Twitter. (Which is rare! Even though Twitter is how porn people all talk to one another, I find most of it super boring.)
Speaking to me from a bedroom in suburban Oregon, Chad seemed enthusiastic but disarmingly down to earth. The internet is a place where everyone becomes an exaggerated version of their real-life self, so I was expecting him to be pretty opinionated, but he also sounds like a really sweet guy.
His views definitely skew towards the progressive—stop reading now if you object to people talking about white male privilege—but read on if you’d like to know about making porn in suburban Oregon, how to do a cam show, and how to become the prettiest otaku in the Pacific Northwest.

Chad! Hello. For those people who don’t know you, give us a little intro. Who are you? What are you up to right now?
I’m doing laundry and a Twitter follower purge. I don’t know who so many of these people are. I live outside of Portland, and I actually hate it here. I’m 22, I spend a lot of time on the internet. I really like pizza. Um.
Pizza is a wonderful food. Tell me about how you got into porn.
A little over a year ago, one of my friends wanted me to get a Twitter account, so I did, and for a while I got a little obsessed with it. I started following Austin Wilde, because I’d read about his debacle with Next Door Studios, and I had a lot of respect for him. And then all of a sudden, he started talking to me, and the rest is history.
What have you done so far, and where can we expect to see you next?
I shot with Gay Room and with Austin. I just did my first cam show for Guys In Sweatpants. Right now, I’m not working with studios, although I hope to be able to in the future. So for now I’ll just be making XTube videos in my house and maybe doing more cam shows. A lot of people told me they thought it was awesome. Lichen Craig said she spit wine all over her keyboard. I heard that during Austin’s cam show last night that they were asking about me. And I’ve gotten a lot of notes on the stills that I posted on my Tumblr.
it was actually a little difficult. Before that, I’d never actually seen a cam show. I had to look into what to actually do. People ask you questions and then you jerk off, so it’s like super intimate masturbation time. And at first, nobody was saying anything. It was a little nerve-wracking at first, and then it got a little easier, and then at the end, I remembered that I had to be sexual.
But I’m also thinking, “Oh my god, is this a bad angle? Oh my god, do they think I’m ignoring them? Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.” But I got a lot of “good job!” comments. And someone called me a whore. I got slut-shamed on the internet! I feel like that elevated me a level.
You studied film production in college. How does that translate into porn?
Well, I’ve seen a lot of it, so I know it can be really arty and cool, or it can be really bad. It depends who’s behind the camera. So someone like average Joe can make their own if they want to with just a cell phone, but other people will have legitimate film cameras, or DSLRs, and it’ll be clearer. It’s just as valid as any other film medium. I don’t know if people realize how much impact the porn industry has on the world and on gay culture in general.
Do you think that impact is a good thing or a bad thing?
I think it’s a good thing and a bad thing. Since the ’70s, most of the representation of gay people has been through porn, but the only gays you see on TV are the Bravo gays, who are these offensive stereotypes of what gay people should be. I consider myself to be very plain and average, so it’s still kind of mind-blowing to me that I could actually be in front of the camera.
It’s a double-edged sword. Porn is so prominent that it’s like, if you’re gay and fat you don’t exist, because you never see yourself represented. If you’re gay and black, then you’re somebody’s fetish. So sometimes I go off on these rants, and people will tell me that my points are valid, but if I didn’t look like this would you still be listening? Because mostly I’m just saying what other people have been saying for years.
This is going to sound ridiculous, but I’ve been influenced a lot by people I went to school with, and Tumblr. I used to be a really shitty person, and in university, I met a lot of people who helped me realize that the things I was thinking were actually kind of mean and not helpful.
But gay Tumblr tends to mean gay porn Tumblr, which ends up being creepy, because it’s a lot of people talking about what real men are and a lot of people who say that barebacking is the right thing to do because it’s God’s way. People have actually said that.
Tell me a little about your own sex life. Do you hook up online a lot?
That’s really the only way to do it here. At this point, I’m trying to be career-driven, so I don’t want a boyfriend right now. I just want to fuck. So mostly I use it to hook up.
Most of the people who want to have sex with me are much older than me. Once I met a guy, and he actually asked me mid-coitus if I was into older guys. And I had to stop and think about it. I’ve had a lot of sex with older men, and there are a lot of perks to it. They tend to be more outgoing and secure and upfront about what they want, as opposed to people my age that tend to be more wishy-washy. The downside is that a lot of them are really rough, and I don’t really always enjoy that. Sometimes I am, but sometimes I’m not. I’m not very into pain. I know some people are, and that’s fine for them, but it’s not really my thing.
Is there a specific type of guy that you’re into?
I actually really hate getting that question, because when people are asked that question, they tend to have answers that make me really mad. If you have a dick that I can suck and you might cum on me, that’s all you really need. That, and a cute face and a good personality.
If you’re really hot, but you’re a racist or you’re using the r-word, then I’ll probably want to bite your dick off. But I don’t like to limit my preferences. You can miss out on good opportunities if you limit yourself that way. And if you refuse to find black people attractive, then you probably need to rethink why you feel that way and then try to get your life together.
Not to completely change the subject, but I’ve been reading a lot on your Tumblr about your relationship with TV…
Over the summer, I started watching television again, and it kind of destroyed my life. After finishing Hannibal, I started watching Attack on Titan and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. Now I’m watching Ghost Stories on Youtube. It’s hilarious. It’s about kids at an elementary school that’s haunted by a shit-ton of ghosts. It’s pretty bad, though. They actually use a lot of homophobic and ableist slurs. You have to kind of watch it. It’s like the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia version of anime. It’s only twenty episodes, and I think I’m on episode six right now.
I’m actually looking at Manhunt Daily right now. Ben Cohen’s on the front page! I’m trying to figure out why people are so into him, because really pretty straight people are a dime a dozen. I know a lot of gay people have a huge thing for Ben Cohen, and why? He’s never gonna love you! Not the way I will.
I think a lot of it has to do with the gay people who are really straight-worshiping. You know, there are so many sites that are about coercing straight people into having gay sex. I think porn really perpetuates this straight ideology, and it makes people think that in order to be validated, they have to be as straight or as close to straight as possible. I say be as faggoty as you want! Straight people are boring. Look at my parents. They drink out of mason jars.
That sounds like Portland! You mentioned not liking it there. Why is that?
There are a lot of Mormons here. It’s really disgusting. Since I finished college, I moved back, which is one reason why I’ve been spending a lot of time online and watching television. I grew up in a really toxic environment where my friends would actually use expressions like “That’s not natural” or “That’s not what God intended”.
And now I laugh, in their faces, even though I know it’s rude to do that. So I spend a lot of time at the gym and at work and in my bedroom. With luck, someday I shall become the prettiest otaku in the Pacific Northwest.
