Drawn To You: The Art of Douglas Simonson

Douglas Simonson Art
With diverse models, exotic locales and bold color usage, the art of Douglas Simonson vaguely recalls that of French painter Paul Gauguin. The summer season is basically here now, so we couldn't think of any better way to celebrate.
Simonson's final products get even sweeter thanks to a thorough online diary, which includes photos of his models and details his creative process. Unfortunately, he censors the frontal nudity. Emphasis on the "unfortunately", because a lot of his models look pretty damn hung!

  1. I wish this MHD article had featured more of Simonson’s hyper-realistic pencil drawings for which he was originally known. They are exceptional! Those pictured in this article are more recent abstractions and are too cartoony for some.

  2. I’ve loved Simonson for years – ricemale is right, a more diverse selection of his styles should have been included here. I like the more abstract stuff, but the more realistic pieces are my favorites. Go check him out!

  3. Interesting. Would love to see some more. Find myself fascinated by the geometries in the one pic of the guy with the multicolored pattern above his navel.
    Post some links, willya?
