Aural Only: Sarah McLachlan

You probably didn’t wake up this morning and expect to see Sarah McLachlan on the front page of Manhunt Daily. Well, to be quite frank with you, neither did we! There have been multiple requests to add the Canadian singer-songwriter to our Weekly Top Ten countdown, and it seemed wildly unfair to keep ignoring them.

Truthfully, her latest single “Illusions of Bliss” won’t perform well on our charts. It doesn’t stand a chance amidst chart-topping divas like Pink, Rihanna and Britney Spears, especially when you take into account this Friday’s impending Gaga-pocalypse.

Even so, we should at least acknowledge that some dudes prefer listening to music by people who play their own instruments and write their own songs. Everything doesn’t need to be an epic gay anthem or stomping club banger. Sometimes, we just want to put on our damn headphones, get lost in the soundscape of “Building A Mystery” and embrace our inner lesbian… Right? Right?? Just say we’re right, and we’ll shut the fuck up.

  1. Everything she does has sounded the same for about 10 years or more. It’s nice, and she has a wonderful voice and sense of real emotion in her lyrics, but we’ve heard it all before. It’s boring.

  2. She won’t be on the cover of magazines or in the headlines because she’s simply a talented artist that doesn’t rely on showing her tits or flashing her vajay jay!
FYI: “Loving You Is Easy (Dave Aude Club mix)” is amazing!

  3. I have been a fan of Sarah Mclachlan since ever.
If it is the case of embracing my inner lesbian then I am have hugged and kissed my inner Ellen and been a recurrent character in my personal L Word show.

Sarah Mclachlan is just like Dewitt says, “[artist] who play her own instruments and write her own songs. Everything doesn’t need to be an epic gay anthem or stomping club banger.”

So thank you for making a post of a great artist.

P.S. since we’re embracing our inner lesbian when will we see something about Tracy Chapman??

  4. Great singer, inspired songwriter, thanks for posting this. JimmyT, you need to listen harder, open your ears.

  5. if loving this amazing woman makes me a lesbian than I gladly hand in my gay-card. this woman has made me cry seeing her live with the first word from angel. and she hasn’t changed because you cant improve on perfection. she is and always will be a godess
