Aural Only: Rihanna

For a song that’s basically a huge “no homo” kiss-off, it’s a little odd that the music video for Rihanna‘s “Te Amo” is packed with so much homoerotic action. Now don’t get too excited when you hear that. Unless, of course, you’re into girl-on-girl action (in which case you should get very excited).

Due to your lukewarm reception to some of Rihanna’s previous singles, we’ve held off on posting this for a few weeks. However, it’s now been brought to our attention that the music video has allegedly been banned in the United States. Click through to check out the clip, and tell us if you can figure out why something like this was worth banning…

  1. Its not that it is ban here, its just that the single was released overseas only while her song Rockstar 101 was release in the US.

  2. why do u say the song is a ‘no-homo’?
she openly sings about another women confessing her love to her
and the video is perfectly about that…

    unlike alejandro, for example.

  3. Banned in the US? Did the Consortium of Things We Don’t Like see this video say “no”? If that’s the case, then I have a question: Why was Ke$ha allowed to utter a single syllable?

  4. This video was not that bad, it’s just two woman caressing each other, while expressing their love. No different than “Alejandro” with guys doing the same thing to each other, while also Lady gaga pretty much mounting one of the dancers on the bed (GO Lady Gaga for that). So IF it was banned it shouldn’t be, if it just wasn’t released in the us? It definitely should be! Props to Rihanna for sure!

  5. well first off I like Rihanna, always have and I like this song. But this video makes me kind of love the song, and she is hott in here the sexual energy is high and I love it.

  6. I like “dark” RiRi, but anyone else notice the trend in music/music videos right now is to be ultra sexy and wear as little as possible?

  7. I am happy to see this video on the Manhunt blog. I think is one of Rihanna’s best videos and I am not saying this because of the girl-on-girl storyline. At least it’s much better than the video for Rockstar 101 and makes more sense than Alejandro by her majesty Gaga.

The song is ‘no-homo’ because the lyrics are “not afraid to feel the love but I don’t feel that way”, even though, as you say, the other woman is proclaiming her love.

I love this song. There really isn’t anything explicit about the video though.

  9. I’m pretty obsessed with this song and video. Much better than rockstar 101. I agree with JPH I think this is her best video yet.
