Aural Only: Macy Gray

Macy Gray

If you tuned into the series finale of Ugly Betty, you're probably familiar with Macy Gray's latest single "Beauty In The World". The uplifting tune encourages listeners to forget about their stress and appreciate the positive aspects of life. It's a great message, and it just happens to be attached to a pretty fantastic song.

Love her or hate her, Macy Gray is back on the scene. And judging by what she has to say about her upcoming project The Sellout, she's back and better than ever. "I feel like I have finally made the album I was capable of and that my fans wanted," said the eccentric singer. "These are some of my favorite songs that I've written."

As a longtime fan of Gray, I can't wait to see what she's come up with. I've always felt she never reached her full potential due to industry politics, and now it seems like she's found some balance between expressing herself and satisfying her handlers. Plus, the few featured spots on this album include Velvet Revolver and Bobby Brown. If that's not enough to pique your curiosity, I don't know what is…

  1. Put in the top 10 this week and have both versions count as one entry. They both have their charm, but I am partial to the dance remix.

  2. This is an incredibly beautiful song. The message is simple and joyful and Miss Gray looks like she’s having a ball. I really hope it’s a big hit for her.

  3. Not really feeling either version, but am liking the dance mix a little better than the original. Loved her last album though, so will see what else comes of this one before passing final judgment.

  4. What a great song. And when it was used on Ugly Betty, it helped propel the story along. Uh, the remix needs to be remixed.
