Aural Only: Kelly Rowland

I know what you’re thinking–doesn’t Kelly Rowland already have three singles out? Isn’t it overkill to throw another one in the mix? Well, rumor has it that the former Destiny’s Child member will be releasing two versions of her upcoming album, and the US version won’t include the club-oriented tracks that have influenced her popularity overseas.

While the US jams to “Rose Colored Glasses” and “Grown Woman”, the UK crowd will be dancing up a storm to her brand new single “Forever And A Day”. According to sources, the song is yet another collaboration with hit-making producer David Guetta, who worked with Rowland on the international hit “When Love Takes Over”. Will this be their next success story?

  1. I love that song! IMHO Kelly Rowland needs to cater more to the crowd that loves her – gays! Her voice really shines when she sings dance/club oriented music. It’s a shame that we won’t be getting the Euro version of the album here. And of course, she’s insanely beautiful, oh so sexy, and such a diva!

  2. “Cater to the gay crowd”?? So…. Gays only love dance/club oriented music, eh? I need to get my trusty little homo guidebook out and re-read it. Never saw that in there. And I listened to Marc Anthony today… Dang it! I really screwed up!

  3. that’s some motherfucking bullshit that she’s not releasing the dance tracks here in america! not sure if it’s homophobia or racist or what, but def not cool!

  4. Aww I absolutely love Kelly, so another single from her is great. Can wait for her albums to come out.

Oh, and I’m sure her not releasing those tracks in the US wasn’t meant as a “hate” act (or whatever) towards anyone. It’s probably cause her dance music in the past has had a lot more success in Europe, so her label is catering to what they think the majority in both areas want.

  5. Hayson, really?? Racist?!? Homophobic?!? Why do guys on here just want to use labels when they don’t want to be labeled themselves? Makes me wish reality came in pill form. Don’t you realize how stupid comments like that make you look? Sheesh!

  6. Although Kelly did a great job with When Love Takes Over…and Commander was passably good, the other dance-oriented release, Shake Them Haters Off, was absolutely awful. Maybe it’s the low sound-quality of the rip, but this new song doesn’t sound great either. I have to respectfully disagree with the opinion that Kelly’s voice sounds best on dance-oriented tracks. I think her voice sounds absolutely phenomenal on Grown Woman. It’s one of my favorite songs that isn’t getting anywhere near the amount of exposure that it should be getting.

I guess I don’t fit the mold of the “gay crowd” either. I can’t disagree with the fact that many gay men love dance music. But dance music isn’t the only kind of music gay men like…at least not this gay man. I love a good dance track performed by someone with a GOOD singing voice. But I also adore other genres and will gladly choose a good Country or R&B song over a dance song with a nice beat performed by an awful vocalist.

  7. I wish she and Bey and Michelle would come back together for a DC3 album personally. BTW, when are these albums supposed to even come out?

  8. toddM, i would say, eat a dick you old bitch, but i think u just might take me up on it. i wish annoying know-it-all queens were like unwanted pregnancies, easily flushed down the toliet. and choco, thank you for ur comments, def more rational than i was being at that moment.
