Aural Only: Erykah Badu

After stripping naked in public and inciting a wave of controversy, how could Erykah Badu possibly top her music video for “Window Seat”? Duh, she just picks up right where she left off. The clip for her second single off New Amerykah Part Two kicks off with a remix of the previous R&B hit, including a guest verse by rapper Rick Ross.

But things really start to get interesting once we head into her new jam “Turn Me Away (Get Munny)”. The song contains a sample from Sylvia Striplin “You Can’t Turn Me Away”, which you may recognize from the Notorious B.I.G. and Junior Mafia‘s hit “Get Money”. In other words? It’s pretty fucking awesome.

  1. I find her music refreshing, a real original artist, not any of that lady gaga/rihanna/brittney bullshit. The video was a little odd though.

  2. Really like “turn me away”, it’s got a nice funky beat.
Ross’ verse was different than how he usually rhymes. That is to say the subject matter was different.
