Aural Only: Beyoncé

Beyoncé‘s got a new track out! Sasha Fierce seems to have been retired to wander the beauty supply store, and now it’s just pure B-Day singing about how girls are runnin’ thangs (not the women?). Manhunt Daily‘s primary blogger and music critic genius Dewitt probably has a much more expert opinion on this one. But to me, it sounds like extraterrestrials have set their phasers on stun at some sort of tribal gathering and Jay-Z‘s wife isn’t having it. It’s a little too relentlessly messy to dance to, but anything’s better than “Ring The Alarm”.

  1. The chorus is fantastic, but those verses sound like they mashed up random noises together

  2. I really don’t like this song at all. Is it just me is there no real chorus? It sounds the same from beginning to end. This is for sure not her best work.

I heard this isn’t the final mix. I really hope so. I was loving her after Sweet Dreams and Scared of Lonely, but this is nowhere near the quality of music she can produce.

  3. hopefully it’s just demo, cos it sounds horrible.

but to be honest the skeleton itself is pretty crappy anyway. the chorus is too repetitive and the use of N-word and MF-bomb doesn’t help it either.

  4. Not her best song and it makes Ring the alarm sound like a Grammy contender. Lol. There’s still time to improve before the summer release of her album.

  5. I’d rather listen to cats fighting. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. What in the hell going on? First gaga spews that shit she calls music on us, now this from beyonce? I expect way, way, way, more 2 talented singers! If ke$ha starts singing ballads then I’m going to believe in those stupid 2012 predictions. BOTH OF YOU, BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD!

  7. Its better than anything Gaga has released as of yet. I guess music isnt suppose to make sense anymore.. Hints: Judah & Now THis

  8. I thinks its amazing — the appropriation of the bollywood aesthetic demonstrates that Beyonce is unafraid to take risks and create NEW music, not just the same rehashed crap that just about every other major artist is putting out now.

  9. I LOVE Beyonce but I really don’t like this. lol. Jay, come get your wife and tell her this is not hot.

  10. she did not create this song though. it is a sample of pon de floor by major lazer. had she and her producers cooked this up i could give her some creative props but she adds nothing new to this song.

  11. Ke$ha has done a few ballads like The Harold Song that were actually really good. You’re a little harsh man.

  12. Yes, WTF? She’s copying Grace Jones circa 1977 in that photo? Definitely, our divas are running out of ideas that now they look up to the older divas for inspiration.

  13. Oh calm down, queens. Not many people liked “Single Ladies” when it first came out, and then came the video. I also don’t understand how people can put TWO gaga tracks and one of Britney’s 5-note range songs on the weekly top 10, but complain when Beyonce just wants to write a fun song… It’s not a great song, neither is single ladies, but it’s a damn fun song with a ridiculous beat. I can’t wait for this video and for her album. She’s an amazing performer!

  14. I’m just gonna be a big nerd and say the lyrics are awful. She is really scraping the bottom of the barrel on this one. It’s gonna take the best video of all time to get me to listen to this garbage again.
