ANTM: Let’s Dance!

ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Cycle 14, Let's Dance!, episode three, dancers, Tatianna, Brenda, Alasia, Ren, Alexandra, Angelea, Jessica, Raina, Simone, Bluefly, modeling, posing, dreckitude, fierce, edgy, Anslee, Krista, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, breakdancing, salsa, african, disco, tap, interpretive

Before we begin this week's recap of America's Next Top Model, can we talk about Tyra Banks' outfit towards the end of the episode? I'm not hatin' or anything, but she looked like she was guest-starring as an alien on V. Was she planning on pulling a Lance Bass by becoming an astronaut after this episode finished filming? It's quite likely.

Now that we've addressed this extremely urgent matter, let's move on from there. Remember my rules for the ANTM drinking game? Well, maybe you should invite a sexy friend over and turn it into a stripping game. Every time someone on the show uses the words fierce, edgy or dreckitude (or any variation of those three), you have to remove an article of clothing. Chances are, you'll be naked before the elimination.

Wait, how did I just go off on another random tangent? Let's cut to the episode summary. The remaining eleven girls competed in a trivia competition, hosted by bootylicious Cycle 3 contestant Toccara Jones. The winners got to go on a go-see with Bluefly.com, and Simone wound up booking a campaign on their site.

With no segue whatsoever, the aspiring models then moved on to a dance-themed photo shoot. Some of them struggled, while others churned out amazing images. But who wound up doing the cha-cha right out the door? You'll have to click through to find out!

AND NUMBER ONE THIS WEEK…

Alexandra, ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Let's Dance, episode 3, Cycle 14, photo shoot, dancing

1. ALEXANDRA (LW – 5): The judges loved Alexandra's pose in this shot, but they weren't fans of her lack of neck. While I can agree that the area above her shoulders could have been a little stronger, it doesn't make this picture any less powerful for me. She managed to capture the essence of breakdancing and high fashion modeling. And she rocked this pose in heels! This is the opposite of dreckitude.

Angelea, ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Let's Dance, episode 3, Cycle 14, photo shoot, dancing

2. ANGELEA (LW – 6): I hate to admit it… Angelea is starting to grow on me. Her awkwardness in the go-see with Bluefly was actually kind of endearing, and she's done better than I expected in every photo shoot so far. In this picture, she's supposed to be embodying "moshing". It's not quite aggressive enough for me, but I still think she has a chance of turning around her shitty attitude and winning this competition.

Jessica, ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Let's Dance, episode 3, Cycle 14, photo shoot, dancing

3. JESSICA (LW – 9): ARE YOU A MODEL OR NOT? Geez, I can't figure this bitch out. There doesn't seem to be such a thing as "too skinny" in the modeling world, but something about her figure is vaguely uncomfortable. With this elongated pose, she somehow teleported herself to the magical land of "fierce as fuck". It's a shame that she didn't capture the full essence of salsa dancing…

Alasia, ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Let's Dance, episode 3, Cycle 14, photo shoot, dancing

4. ALASIA (LW – 8): Tyra called Alasia's name first, as the judges were stunned by her interpretation of… er, interpretative dancing. I'm not denying that this is a beautiful shot. It's definitely the best picture from the bunch. But is Alasia the best model within this group? Hell to the no. Also, a big WTF to her outfit during the judging process. Girl, this isn't America's Next Top Streetwalker.

Raina, ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Let's Dance, episode 3, Cycle 14, photo shoot, dancing

5. RAINA (LW – 1): This wasn't the best we've seen from Raina, but she has a lot to live up to after her first two photos. Her facial expression doesn't really match the pose, and it doesn't do a very good job at exemplifying the "jazz" theme. With that said, she's nowhere close to being sent home.

Tatianna, ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Let's Dance, episode 3, Cycle 14, photo shoot, dancing

6. TATIANNA (LW – 3): Look! It's Tatianna's first tap-dancing recital. There's a campy, childish quality to this shot, yet it packs enough sassiness to take it out of troublesome territory. On a completely different note, who wears heels when they're tap-dancing?

Simone, ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Let's Dance, episode 3, Cycle 14, photo shoot, dancing

7. SIMONE (LW – 7): The producers knew what they were doing when they paired Simone with "hip-hop". Just because she's a strong black woman, that doesn't mean that she has any rhythm. This sorority girl didn't know what she was doing on set, and the resulting picture is as vacant as her last two. Can you please step it up? You're too beautiful to be this mediocre.

Anslee, ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Let's Dance, episode 3, Cycle 14, photo shoot, dancing

8. ANSLEE (LW – 2): You impressed me last week. This week, you're back to boring me. It doesn't help that you're a total bitch, so ditch the 'tude and maybe I'll be back on your team. You call this rhythmic? You must have learned how to dance from Elaine on Seinfeld.

Krista, ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Let's Dance, episode 3, Cycle 14, photo shoot, dancing

9. KRISTA (LW – 10): The good news? Krista moved up a spot this week! The bad news? This picture is pretty damn heinous. The positioning of her face makes it look so squished, and this is particularly discerning because Krista didn't have the prettiest face to begin with. Thankfully, she's not doing ballet in heels. That would have brought my anger over the top.

Brenda, ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Let's Dance, episode 3, Cycle 14, photo shoot, dancing

10. BRENDA (LW – 4): When we first saw Brenda, we didn't think she'd wind up in the bottom two so fast! Her greatest weakness is that she doesn't photograph well, and that's a pretty big disadvantage in a modeling competition. Mommy needs to step it up, or she's going home soon.

Ren, ANTM, America's Next Top Model, Let's Dance, episode 3, Cycle 14, photo shoot, dancing

GONE… REN (LW – 11): Good riddance! Did anyone else love that Ren was complaining about all the drama in the house, and then she proceeded to add fuel to the fire by telling Brenda that the other girls were talking shit about her? (Also, what's wrong with looking like Cynthia Nixon?) This bitch sealed her fate when she said this was, "my mom's dream for me". Adios, you smug little hipster bitch…

  1. I laughed when Ren complained about the drama. Has she not seen any of the previous cycles? There is always drama in the house. As for the pictures, I don’t understand Alaisa’s being called first. It isn’t great at all. In fact, any jump shot from this cycle or past ones are just terrible. It doesn’t work at all.

  2. Alaisa’s pic was great but I still didn’t want her to be called first. When she was doing the shoot and Mr. Jay kept saying “beautiful” and “gorgeous” and what-not I had the same angry face as every girl in the competition. I hope she messes up and goes home.
As for Ren, I really wanted her to shut the hell up and get over it because I really liked her look and thought she had potential to be great but she just kept complaining. I guess it’s good that she went home over someone who wants to be there.

  3. Angelea and Raina should be swapped in your order Dewitt. They Are just feeding this competition to Angelea, she really hasnt impressed me with her pictures and attitude. I do hope Brenda improves because I want to see her in the end, she is also a sweet girl. Verrry Elegant, Verrry Elegant!
