Adam Lambert Gets Frisky At AMAs

I always opt not to watch the American Music Awards, because I have no faith in the general public to honor decent musicians. It's essentially a ridiculous popularity contest. Even so, I tend to forget that the show usually includes a ton of amazing performances. Or total trainwrecks. Last night was no exception.

Here's what you need to know… Jennifer Lopez fell on her ass. Janet Jackson did a pretty fantastic medley. Taylor Swift won a lot of shit. Adam Lambert simulated oral sex with another man on stage, making that whole OUT 100 controversy even more hilarious. Rihanna looked amazing and had lasers on her shoulders. And predictably, Lady Gaga's performance of "Bad Romance" and "Speechless" was awesome. And yet, somehow Gloriana defeated Lady Gaga for the Breakthrough Artist award. For those who watched, what was your favorite part?

  1. Lambert’s off key screeching was absolutely horrendous…Definately one of the worst parts of the show…Overall I was impressed with just about everyone else.

  2. Watched ALL the performances last night on the AMAs. Wasn’t completely shocked by Glambert’s Man on Man PDA/Simulated oral. Actually kind of expected it. Gaga was great as usual even though I’ve moved passed the shock value that she usually puts forth. I laughed my ass off when J Lo fell and was overall throughly ENTERTAINED!!!! To all the hype and drama the mainstream media is making over the Glambert Kiss I say who gives a flying FU*K!!! I knew he was gay from the first time I looked at the top 10 and hoped he won but wasn’t shocked when he got robbed at Idol. Anyone who didn’t see it all coming from a mile away must be deaf dumb and blind. Middle america needs to get over themselves and realize there are bigger issues in the world than gay men and women.

  3. After all these years of Madonna — why would we be shocked by Adam?
So was Adam’s performance your favorite? Lady Gaga? Or someone else amongst the 18 live performances?

    thanks for voting!!

  4. i disagree, why embarrassed, we are always preaching people have to be themselves and be accepted for that. And then we turn on the first person who is truly themselves on a national scale. I applaud him for that bit of self marketing. I never liked him before, but dewd, that was enough to catch my attention and say… You go boy. Who cares what others think of you, be yourself, your crowd, gay straight whatever will find you.

  5. Be yourself? I think that is the problem.
I will be honest and say I haven’t seen or heard all that much of him, being in Australia kind of makes it easy to miss. I see him as pure fabrication to make some kind statement. While no different to Madonna or Lady Gaga, there is certainly a cringe factor. If he had been honest from the start, didn’t avoid ‘certain’ questions, maybe people would believe we are getting the real him.

  6. I never cease to be disappointed in the guys on this site that are so self loathing. Makes me wonder if any of these guys ever hook up or if most posters here are not teenage girls.
Who cares what Adam does. Why should he be treated differently than the likes of Madonna or Britney?

  7. There’s so much violent shit still going on broadcast TV and no one bitch about that. But they want to go after Adam for his hardcore delicious number. They need to sit their asses down. BTW Adam is the star for next decade.

  8. I love that criticizing Adam Lambert is equated to self loathing. The reason people are ridiculing him was his performance was terrible. He was trying so hard to be shocking, to be the one who was talked about that he forgot to actually give a good performance. I could care less if he whipped it out on stage as long as his performance was ok, but between his off key screaming, his ridiculously embarassing fall, his trying overly agressive attempts to be “shocking” he forgot to worry about connecting with the audience. He sounded terrible, he looked terrified and overall he did a shoddy job. That’s not self loathing, that’s being honest.

  9. I mean the guy throws a hissy fit with out magazine and than make a spectacle of himself on the AMA I frankly don’t give a flying f**k I think just trying 2 get the biggest audience …….

  10. I didn’t care for Lambert’s performance. I’ve never been a fan of his vocal technique; his voice, to me, has little depth to it, though he does have an incredible range. I think he sounds screechy a lot of the time because he has to hit high notes to have much power behind them. The simulated oral and the making out seemed way too calculated. I agree with Chris, he tried too hard to be shocking and “edgy”, and it came across very flat.

  11. Lady Gaga on the other hand, gets weirder (and cooler!) every time I see her perform. She does have a powerful voice, though not a huge range.
