A Quote From George Clooney About His Sexuality (Presented With No Snarky Commentary From Us)

Actor and notable fan of Michael Fassbender‘s penis George Clooney addresses the gay “rumors” (and some other stuff too) in an interview with The Advocate‘s Brandon Voss:

“I think it’s funny, but the last thing you’ll ever see me do is jump up and down, saying, ‘These are lies!’ That would be unfair and unkind to my good friends in the gay community. I’m not going to let anyone make it seem like being gay is a bad thing. My private life is private, and I’m very happy in it. Who does it hurt if someone thinks I’m gay? I’ll be long dead and there will still be people who say I was gay. I don’t give a shit.”

That is all. Feel free to discuss this quote or disregard it entirely.

  1. Matt Damon said something similar about rumors about his relationship with Ben Affleck several years back.  Made me like him all the more.

  2. I wasn’t allowed to give commentary because I was bound and gagged.

To prevent me from typing commentary, this was aside from my usual erotic misadventures.

  3. Mr. Clooney is correct.  His private life is no one business.  He is a very handsome man so people automatically think he is gay.  For me he is a great actor, I love his movies.  Wayne

  4. This, gentlemen, is what we call “class.” Would that more people had it and exhibited it in their daily lives.

  5. If George was not the man of my dreams already, I’d move him to that position.  Ah well, more therapy work, my pattern of falling for nice heterosexual men who are pointedly NOT homophobic …

  6. Why is it such a big deal to label someone “Straight’ or “Gay”? Leave people alone and let them lead their lives the way they want. Isn’t that what we as gay men want. We can be our own worse enemy. Just because someone is famous we don’t have the right to know everything about their private life because it should be that, private!

  7. Never liked Mr Clooney till I have read his comments. Well done Sir, you in my favourite book now!! Just strange that we in South Africa, a so called “Third world country” are light years ahead of the USA a so called “First world Country” on recognition of gay equality, gay marraiges and gay relationships. We have for the past 18 years these rights in RSA while the USA still struggle to get to terms with it. One wonder now who is third and who is first…..

  8. It’s a double edged sword. While people ARE entitled to privacy, the whole idea of “celebrity” is that your private life ceases to be private. Their livelihood thrives based on people’s interest in them. Celebrities like Jennifer Aniston remain relevant (in some degree) because people still feel sorry for her over the whole Brad Angelina affair. Her film career, while active, is almost entirely irrelevant. It is her personal life that people are invested in. (Im using her as one example). So should it matter if Clooney is gay? No. He has a thriving film/producer career, an academy award, and millons of dollars. He can star and finance any movie he wants to at this point. But in order to stay relevant, which is not necessarily the same as “successful” he stays mum about being gay…which I think he is. If and when he finally fades into obscurity, he will probably confess to it.

  9. Good for you Goerge, great man, great actor.
O ” did I say? Very sexy! Be kind to one another!:

  10. Hey that’s a no-win question, whether or not he’s Gay for him isn’t it? I think that if he is, he has the balls enough to come out and say it publicly and if he doesn’t it’s his loss because he doesn’t get to enjoy living in the light of truth. If he isn’t then he would be stating a lie about himself just like Gay people feel the need to do so time and time again because most starit people are cruel haters. As he himself says he’s comfortable with the fact that people are always going to be talking about whether he is or he isn’t even after he dies and he doesn’t give a shit and frankly, that’s his opinion. If he is; he’s living his life oppressed. If he isn’t then people are just saying it about him because he’s a good looking cuss and there are a lot of haters out there. What about if he is Bi-sexual? My point is, unless he says really nasty evil comments about Gay people and that being Gay is awful or wrong then who cares? I say live and let live. It’s the EVIL ASSHOLES who say horrible things, pass horrible laws, and foment HATRED towards Us Gay people, be it politically or in the religious/ social arenas who DESERVE to be OUTED and HATED for being SELF-HATING HOMOPHOBES if they are homosexual or have homosexual encounters or feelings….THESE MORONS SHOULD have NOTHING BUT SCANDAL PLAGUE THEM THEIR ENTIRE LIVES UNTIL THEY COME CLEAN AND EXPLAIN THEIR HATEFUL RHETORIC AND THEN THEY SPEND THE REST OF THEIR LIVES MAKING AMENDS FOR THE HARM AND EVIL THAT THEY CAUSED.They should feel guilty for each and every person that committed suicide because of being gay or were murdered at the hands of homophobes during their public disparagement of homosexuality. These lives should be in their minds and the blood of those innocents should  taint their hands. George Clooney…..he’s just a cool guy who lives and let’s live….or am I wrong? So far he seems like he’s just a nice guy doing his own thing. That’s pretty cool. If he says some homophobic shit…then it’s ON. All bets are off.

  11. A true gentleman George and well said, ‘who the fuck cares’…strange world we live in these days that so many pepole could even bother to take notice. Picture this!!!
If George was gay are we going to shout to the whole world! WE WON…WE WON..GEORGE IS GAY!!! Give us a break guys.

  12. I feel that it’s very important George had specified what the proper response to a (presumed) straight person’s being asked about their sexuality isn’t.

“Gay”/”Homosexual” aren’t insults.  No matter what homophobes might want heterosexuals want to believe.

  13. Damn right. Far too many celebs debunk gay rumors in a rude, uncouth way. It makes him seem like a pretty nice and down to earth guy. Way to go GC,

  14. Would that more people employed the hortatory subjunctive! Since I studied ancient Greek in college, it long been one of my favorite grammatical constructions.

So thank you, good sir. 🙂
