Weekly Top Ten: It’s A Tie!

Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga have tied for the number one position on our Weekly Top Ten charts. And when it comes to our quest for 2010’s official “Song of Summer“, there can only be one winner. So who did we wind up picking for the top spot?

You’ll have to click through for the answer. Or you could just look at the collage above for a really big hint. Speaking of which, you may notice a few missing faces up there. La Roux, Nicki Minaj, Brandon Flowers and N.E.R.D. failed to receive enough votes, so we had to send all four of them packing. They’re joined in the scrap heap by Wild Card rejects Billy Currington, Erika Jayne and The Saturdays.

So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, bury your face in Heath Jordan‘s crotch while I explain the rules to you. Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Kylie Minogue – All The Lovers (LW – 1, W9): We know some of you are going to give us shit for favoring “All The Lovers”, but we do have the tie-breaking vote in this situation. Of course, we should remind the rest of Team Kylie that voting for her is extra important in the upcoming weeks!
  2. Lady Gaga – Alejandro (LW – 2, W7): And we should remind Team Gaga that they’re gonna need to vote a lot harder if they want to see their queen in the number one spot. She’s getting closer to stealing it back with each week that passes, so keep in mind that every vote counts.
  3. Scissor Sisters – Fire With Fire (LW – 6, W4): The super-queer pop collective has catapulted out of the danger zone and into third place! This is especially impressive, considering that they were voted off the charts not so long ago. Have they been saved by all of the latest dance remixes?
  4. Kelly Rowland – Commander (LW – 3, W12): If you’re looking to hear something awesome this afternoon, head over here and check out Kelly’s acoustic performance of this dance jam. Woo! Sometimes the power of her voice gives me the chills…
  5. Adam Lambert – If I Had You (LW – 5, W5): Five weeks! This has to be a record for Adam, after his previous singles failed to make much of an impact on our charts. Let’s see how long he can keep it up before someone creeps in and steals his spot!
  6. Katy Perry f/ Snoop Dogg – California Gurls (LW – 7, W2): Whether you like it or not, Billboard and several other media outlets will probably designate this tune as this year’s song of summer. But that doesn’t make it our song of summer. Or does it?
  7. Ne-Yo – Beautiful Monster (DEBUT): While we absolutely hate the fact that Ne-Yo turned his latest two singles into a fifteen-minute epic music video, it doesn’t change the fact that this is a spectacular dance track. If only they’d play it on the radio more often!
  8. Chris Salvatore – Dirty Love (DEBUT): Wait, didn’t this guy get eliminated in last week’s Wild Card round? We thought so too, but then we checked the numbers and discovered that he took nearly fifty-percent of the votes. Guess we’ll have to give him a second chance…
  9. Ciara – Gimme That (WILD CARD): The mere thought of this song makes my ass jiggle. As stupid and lifeless as the lyrics may be, it doesn’t change the fact that you can’t help yourself from moving when this jam is in your eardrums. She was gone for too long, and now she’s definitely brought it back.
  10. Katie Melua – A Happy Place (DEBUT): If one more person compares this to Lady Gaga, I am going to throw someone over a bridge. Since when did wearing crazy costumes become immediately equivalent to Gaga? It just makes no sense to me.

no it doesn’t. it’s such a bad song, with horrible rhyme and dumb beat.
i mean it’s an ok song, “ok” as in 3 out 5, but it certainly doesn’t deserve no.1 spot on billboard or the united world chart.

  2. This chart really sucks. It’s ONE type of music genre from top to bottom and that’s the only type of music that does well.(shrugs)

  3. Voted for Kylie, Kelly and Scissor Sisters. The new songs are very lame. Honestly, we don’t need 4 new tracks every week when there are better songs that are eliminated.

Suggestions for next week are “Don’t fucking tell me what to do” by Robyn or bring back “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz. The Stonebridge Remix is awesome. The type that makes you wanna put your hands up in the air.

  4. Kylie got my vote. It was easy. Were you to make me choose among Madonna Kylie or Janet, I think I’d die!!!

  5. I LOVE KYLIE’S NEW CD. Kylie has been a fav for years. Thank of course the Scissor Sisters. Love them too. Lady Gaga needs some new shit cause im sick of her stuff

  6. You can put Kylie at #1 on this dinky little chart all you like, but it doesn’t make up for the fact that her new album actually didn’t do that well. Lady Gaga’s “Alejandro” has already been voted the official song of summer on People and MTV, so there’s clearly no question about it.

  7. I’m a little mosnter…I can’t help it! So Gaga got my vote. As Well as Kelly and Katie. I like Fire With Fire, but I don’t really see it as Song of Summer material.

  8. Don’t matter what the haters say, Kylie is the Queen of the chart and her single is this year’s Song of the Summer. Gaga better come up with some new music soon if she wants to get back to the top. And don’t fucking tell me there’s no more Robyn songs for the rest of the summer.

  9. Gosh I’m so tired of All the Lovers, Kylie’s the one that needs to come up with some new shit, she needs to retire and make way for better artists with more originality like GAGA

  10. definitely in love with chris salvatore’s music! Don’t vote till you’ve listened to it absolutely my favorite right now 🙂 after that it’s katy perry then kylie though
