The last time someone told me to prepare myself for something big and magical, they weren’t talking about tiny blue dudes in white caps! Neil Patrick Harris has just unveiled the first teaser trailer for The Smurfs, a 3-D update of the popular 1980s cartoon.
As you may have guessed, the title of this post is a joke, and NPH will not be donning any funny white hats for the flick. He’ll be costarring alongside Glee‘s Jayma Mays as the lead live-action characters. They’ll be joined by an unlikely cast of voice actors, including Katy Perry, Paul Reubens, Alan Cumming and Jeff Foxworthy.
We’re not really sure why we’re posting about this, other than the incredible “WTF” factor. But isn’t it interesting that the openly gay actor’s first leading film role will be alongside a bunch of computer-generated blue people? I guess it’s kind of like Avatar. Only not really at all.

I grew up watching the Smurfs along with so many other 80s and 90s cartoons. I never thought I’d see the day that the Smurfs became a movie though. I hope it will hold true to the original series – I’d love to see the Smurfs, Gargamel and Azriel all in a modern setting.
On a side note – NPH just seams to get better with age, like a fine wine. I’d smurf him silly…
I agree with Chris – NPH is such an incredible hottie! I’d have jumped him years ago and I’d jump him now!
Well that preview wasn’t quite what I was hoping for after the picture above.
I agree with all of the above & yes Chris ( LOL ) I would SMURF Doogie Howser silly 2 …
That was a preview??? Unkay…
