Tucker, I see your point, but the problem is when guys who almost certainly gay or bi insist on calling themselves “straight” it just adds to the self-loathing that fuels a lot of anti-gay sentiment in the world. A teenager living in Kansas who is questioning his own sexuality would benefit a lot more from seeing guys who are comfortable with admitting that they are into men than seeing guys who are doing something that they want to do, but who still want to be “straight”. You can’t be having sex with men, enjoying it, and be “straight”. Holding up “straight” as the one true great thing to be is what is still causing so much angst and misery in the gay community. Young guys are all so obsessed with being rough, rugged, and ‘butch’ because we, as a community, still hold “straight” as the holy grail. Unfortunately, if you think about it for 2 seconds, gay men can never ben straight, and thus, we are doomed to eternal frustration if that’s what we want to be.
