Lady Gaga Needs To Come Get Her Fans

[Ed. note – This is not a pic of the “Little Monsters” responsible. I just liked her facial hair.]

Lady Gaga had to cut her tour short due to needing a new hip (fame ages you) so her “Little Monsters” had some time on their hands. Why not use it constructively by…blaming Madonna for the spread of AIDS? The fuck? I know she was a little loose but that’s a lot of pressure on a slut.

Madge is presenting Anderson Cooper with a GLAAD award at an upcoming event (People get trophies for coming out of the closet now? I didn’t get one. Did you?) and this caused some of Gaga’s fans to band together and write an open letter suggesting Mama Monstrous or whatever as a replacement. That’s whatever, but these dumb devious bitches said the following:

This is highly stupid and probably a hoax but I’ll get into it anyway. Wasn’t Madonna like one of the few celebrities back in the day trying to help the cause? Her pre-superstar roommate and best pal Martin Burgoyne died of the disease and Ms. Cicconne made it her raison d’être. Wasn’t it just her and Liz Taylor there for awhile reppin’ for people with AIDS? Google shit, you dumb fucks! Damn. These are the sort of people who don’t know what vowels are. Ugh, I hate that I like Gaga’s music so I’m lumped in with these twats. Note to Madge – I didn’t sign that petition!

Please note that I detected a hoax before it’s confirmed so you don’t call me a dumb bitch in the comments. I AM a dumb bitch, but not for this post.

  1. It wasn’t a hoax, sadly… there actually are dumb shits out there who are actively trying to have people believe that Madonna is “responsible” for AIDS. Guy Oseary, Madonna’s manager, even made a tweet that this campaign against Madonna is sick and has to end. Here’s the thing, aside from the fact that the “Madonna caused AIDS” shit is blatently untrue and is in fact the exact opposite of what Madonna did for our community back in the day, there are two big issues here:

    1. Okay, so for some reason Gaga fans hate Madonna, fair enough, but they also think that gives them the right to police who other people are allowed to like, to the point of actively trying to discredit someone and ruin their credibility and career. This is sad to me because it feels like the gay community biting the hand that helped them through our worst time in recent history. It’s also alarming because it’s a bunch of idiots trying to be “thought police” for everyone else. Here’s a news flash, Madonna having a successful career or not does not really affect Gaga or her ability to have a successful career. There is room for more than one gay diva. We should be free to love whom we love… both in marriage and relationships, and the music artists we love and listen to.

    2. Gaga is for anti-bullying like Madonna was for AIDS. They have both been incredible activists and allies, and we should thank them for it, whether we care for their music or not. But if Gaga is promoting anti-bullying, why are some of her fans the biggest bullies on the Internet playground? Are they not listening to their Mother Monster? Do they not see that bullying Madonna is the same as gay kids being cyber-bullied on the Net? Bullying is bullying is bullying. Sit down, shut up and listen to your icon, bitches. And Gaga, I think it’s about time you put your money where your mouth is and tell your fans that bullying anyone… Madonna, Beyoncé, Rhianna, whoever, is not acceptable to you… or you are simply a hypocrite. I’m sure you’re a nice person, but seriously, this shit is getting out of hand and you… and Elton John… are not helping.

Side note – the helpmothermonster blog is down… for now. Looks like the little shit got too much heat for his lies. Good.

  2. Internet “stan” culture isn’t limited to Lady Gaga fans. We’ve seen the same ridiculous shit from people who are blindly devoted to Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and, yes, even Madonna.

I don’t know! You make some valid points, but I don’t think Gaga alone is the problem here. It’s the culture we live in that encourages such devout worship of pop idols. People shouldn’t be receiving death threats or incredibly personal insults for having an opinion about any given artist.

“Standom” has made it a challenge for me to follow the pop music world, and admittedly, it’s damaged my respect for BOTH Madonna and Lady Gaga fans. While it doesn’t mean I’ll stop listening to “Bad Romance” or “Into The Groove” when I’m in the right mood, it makes it incredibly frustrating to talk about either artist in an honest, straight-forward fashion.

    Oy.

  3. Spot on, Dewitt… though some of Gaga’s fans just seem a little bit more psychotic than most. I mean, in the end, who really cares one way of the other. Love your diva, I’ll love mine… just enough with the cyber-bullying.

  4. Speaking of stans…

You are right that this is a hoax, actually. The source for this whole thing is an Examiner article by a guy named Jemuel Desilva. He is a fairly well-known Madonna stan who, several times in the past, has created fake “Little Monster” Twitter accounts and blogs and sent death threats to popstars and critics, in an effort to discredit Lady Gaga and her fans. He then “reports” on these through his Examiner account and other sites pick it up.

(I generally find Lady Gaga fans really annoying, so I’m not sure why he feels like they need help harming her image, but whatever.)

His stuff has received coverage in the past before and it’s really a shame. For some reason, people treat the Examiner like an actual news source, when it has absolutely no editorial process. Its writers can publish whatever they want and they get paid per page view, so they’re encouraged to post the inflammatory material, regardless of whether or not it’s true at all.

I don’t get the Lady Gaga vs. Madonna thing. At all. I think they’re both extremely talented and interesting and no more similar to one another than, say, Ray LaMontagne and John Mayer or Ed Sheerhan. The fact that they’re both blonde Italian New Yorkers working in the same genre seems to be the issue and I think that speaks more about media culture than anything.

That said, it seems to me like Madonna at the very least encourages it. She has made countless public digs at Gaga over the past year and I think that only serves to exacerbate the problem. As far as I know, Lady Gaga has not engaged with her on any of this, which is a point for her in my book.

Either way, the fringe psycho fans of any artist shouldn’t be used against the artist or his/her more sane fans.
