Aural Only: Glee Cast Does Madonna

We've had a strict and unwritten rule about banning any songs from Glee from our Weekly Top Ten countdown, but exceptions may need to be made for the cast's take on Madonna's hit single "Like A Prayer". While the hypercritical part of me wanted to dismiss it as another karaoke massacre of one of pop music's greatest songs, I eventually had to give in and just accept that it's fucking awesome.

As you might expect, the usual culprits (Lea Michele and Cory Monteith) have a heavy presence on the track. However, this time around they make some room for a few of their fellow cast members, including Amber Riley and Chris Colfer. It really makes me wonder why they don't give Kurt more solos. His voice is simply angelic!

Between this and Sue Sylvester's take on "Vogue", all signs point to this upcoming episode being one of the best the show has ever done. Let's just hope the writers can come up with a plotline and dialogue that doesn't make us want to strangle an endangered animal…

  1. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE Glee! I think our prayers have been answered for network TV to be fresh and entertaining!

  2. Get over yourself, Dewitt! Glee is awesome, and among the greatest production efforts on behalf of LGBT persons to come along yet!

  3. if you DO start putting GLEE songs on the countdown I recommend “Don’t Make Me Over”. It’s all Amber Riley. It’s probably my favorite song…but this is fantastic. OwO

  4. This has always been my favorite Madonna song & Glee does not disappoint in their interpretation.
