Zebra Katz: “Pulla Stunt”

Zebra fucking Katz

Zebra Katz is most commonly known for “Ima Read“, a collaboration with Njena Reddd Foxxx that combined dark hip-hop beats with ballroom scene braggadocio. You may have seen his name in one of those annoying “gay rap” trend pieces, right next to Mykki Blanco and LE1F… Because guess fucking what? He’s gay!

Sexuality, of course, is probably the least interesting thing about Zebra Katz’s music. His unique, vaguely goth style has gained him respect across the map, even from the most hardcore hip-hop heads. It’s admittedly not for everyone—especially if you prefer more traditional pop music—but it might be worth giving a try (if you haven’t already).

  1. the comment before mine makkes me smile. I like it, I think Mykki Blanco killlllsss it though. Also, it’s interesting to me that the handful of african american gay rappers, all sound exactly the same with their cute lil lisps.

  2. What concerns me is the content FOR THE AUDIENCE WHO LISTENS TO THIS KIND OF GARBAGE, not the people on this blog. Um…and what are you doing on this site in the first place, Anne? Um…and doesn’t it bother you that this “track” mostly just repeats the words “motherfucker” and “cunt’ ad nauseum? Um…do you think that qualifies as either music or art?

  3. I’m all for an honest critique of any art, but you claiming it isn’t music or art makes your opinion invalid. Whether it’s WORTHWHILE art might be a different question, but dismissing it entirely because you disagree with the themes and language is pretty dull and closed-minded. Is it the best song in the world? No. But it is what it is.

And I’m on the site because I like smut and gay culture. What’s the fucking problem? Again, do you know the audience for this site, or not?
