“You Didn’t Know What A Man Was, Until I Showed You”

After hearing “Roar” on the radio more times than I would have liked to this weekend, becoming fatigued with the attention-seeking antics of Lady Gaga and feeling increasingly violated by the omnipresence of “Blurred Lines“, it would not be inaccurate to say that I’m frustrated with the current state of mainstream pop music and everything everyone thinks they have to say about it.

Right now, Neko Case is the only thing keeping me sane and grounded. The indie songstress has a new album coming out on September 3rd, which makes me relieved to know that talented people are still allowed to make interesting, multidimensional and thoroughly powerful music that doesn’t sound like it was churned out by a factory of generic hit-makers.

Yikes! I don’t sound bitter at all this morning.
