Wynter Gordon: “Stimela”

If you’re familiar with Wynter Gordon, you’re probably familiar with her work as a dance artist. She’s collaborated with everyone from Freemasons to Mary J. Blige to David Guetta, topped the US dance and Australian charts with her 2010 single “Dirty Talk”, had a top ten hit as a featured guest on Flo Rida‘s “Sugar” and even released her own gay pride anthem.

While I’ve always been rooting for Wynter to succeed—particularly when you take into consideration her support of the gay community—I never really thought her voice was suited for generic club music. There’s a unique quality to her vocals that, well, sounds more at home on her new EP Doleo.

Clearly, I’m not the only one who thinks so! “The music I’m making now is music I’ve always made, I’ve just never been able to release it on a label,” Wynter told Billboard. “I was growing into this person I am now… I didn’t feel like I was singing everything I wanted to sing, doing dance music and pop music. I wanted to make something that felt real to me.”

And there you have it. Wynter Gordon is now serving up Wynter Gordon realness. You can get a taste of her totally real EP Doleo for free (!!!) through her website. As I mention toward the end of this post, “No Hush” and “Kids” are highly recommended. Seriously! “No Hush” for president. That song is my jam.

  1. What an artist. I have deep respect for those who not just sing, but perform and being humble, selfless, and passionate/true to their craft, rather than about fame and wealth. It show what a true artist she is in posting this good album for free both to download and listening. I can’t say the same to any other who are as equally good as she. That is not to say that I despise other artist who do, who attention is toward fame and money, who can blame them to resist such a tempting package, but it would be a whole lot better if we have more people like her in making music that’s beautiful in every way.

  2. I love this… Gonna buy her cd.. So different from she has done and the video is awesome.
