What Not To Wear: Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress

Steak belongs on a plate, not on a person. Um, did we really need experts to tell us that? A report by Lisa Rose of The Star Ledger confirms what we already know–trying to replicate Lady Gaga‘s meat dress is probably a bad idea. Please take note of this before entering Manhunt‘s Hottest Halloween Costume Contest.

The butchers interviewed cite a variety of reasons for not wearing this costume, from the hygienic issues to the risk of hypothermia. But we all know what this is really about. During one part of the clip with John Destefano, you can hear “Teenage Dream” playing in the background. Clearly, these guys are just totally gay for Katy Perry, and they know Gaga poses a threat to her domination of the pop music scene. At least that’s my theory.

  1. as much as i love gaga, that meat dress was a tacky desperate (almost disgusting) attempt to garner more media attention … any pop star can sky rocket to fame by exploiting gays & while its clear she cares about herself, so long as you claim to be a warrior for the gays – you’ve merited stardom.

im sorry but as much as i love her music, i wish she would stop treating/addressing us like we’re psychiatrists’ patients. i love her but its really starting to get old for me.

i’m sure i’ll get a fuirous reply from fellow monsters but i think this is a pretty fair assumption. love u gaga, im only being honest 🙂 xoxo

  2. if that outfit was truely made of real meat, she should have been made to eat it.

god forbid any celebrity these days focus on actual talent to get attention.

  3. It would be more than fair to say that gaga has gone a little gaga if she thought a dress made ofvmeat was ironic statement. I like her music a great deal but she has never really been that original, she is a cross between Bowie, Madonna, Debbie Harry and Marilyn mansion to great effect, but is already becoming a tad boring

A great imitator and great catchy pop tunes, this dress just stinks of desperation though. Though give the girl some credit, she is still a shining beacon in the tepid waters of American pop music, but that is not to hard to achieve

She should calm it down a bit though, because trying to shock all the time can very quickly become tedious and she has to much talent to just shock.

  4. It was definitely different, but am I the only one that wonders about the logisitics of actually pulling off an outfit like that? Didn’t it smell? Wasn’t it cold as hell? Didn’t it leave stains where she sat? I guess I’m just a nerd that way.

  5. I love the meat dress — sure its attention getting, but its also thought provoking (leather and fur…why NOT meat?)

  6. We live in a society of dumbed down brains. If a celebrity/entertainer isn’t constantly in the headlines we quickly loose interest and forget about them. Madonna had her morphing sexual freedom, Angelina her hump andthing-cum-adopt a designer baby, Brittany and her beav…whats a poor girl to do to turn a few heads?

Anything that upsets PETA is fine by me. And, speaking of rich and irony, a Jersey butcher talking sanitation? I actually gave up eating meat when I was transferred to NJ!

  7. @Gagafan: How in the hell can you call yourself a fan and then talk so much trash about her? Lady Gaga is not exploiting the gays. She is out their all the time fighting for our rights with only a few other celebs. If she only popped up every now and then like most of them then that would be exploiting us. But she is a legitimate fighter and really cares for the gay community. And I don’t see how you think she is addressing us as psychiatrists’ patients. That comment has no merit whatsoever.

@Keith: Who these days isn’t a mix of past talent? It’s all been done before so it’s near impossible to be completely original. Doesn’t mean she has any less talent! And if you think it’s not hard to garner attention in the American pop music industry then why don’t you go out an try it? Let me know when you get shot down and laughed at by every major label!

@Rob: If you have such a problem with Lady Gaga then why are you taking the time out of your obviously very important day to read posts about her? Btw… I hope you are picking up the sarcasm because I’m laying it on pretty damn thick!

@Gunter: I agree with you but I also agree with Brad and tallblondviking. I agree with what PETA stands against but I definitely do not agree with their very extreme scare tactics and the way their organization is run!

@tallblondviking: You really shouldn’t be talking about a society of dumbed-down brains when you can’t even use the right words. The word is ‘lose’ not ‘loose’. And as for your third sentence about Madonna, Angelina, and Britney… I don’t even understand the parts about Angelina and Britney. They aren’t even competent thoughts.

Now for my opnion on the whole thing. Yes, the meat dress was very extreme. But isn’t that what Lady Gaga is known for? And don’t people love her for that fact that she is so different? If you have nothing better to do than hate on someone who is guilty of nothing other than being out there fighting for our rights and being a great entertainer then you must live a very sad and boring life!

  8. Gaga was obviously watching that episode of America’s Next Top Model where the girls posed in meat bikinis before the VMAs

  9. Everything she’s done has been done before and YES! She DOES use the gays.

She already sold out in the beginning by being all cutsey and bubbly with her cute yet crazy outfits to than show her true color after she’s famous killing people in all her videos and wearing blood and dead animals.
